"a total of 18 episodes airing in 16 broadcasts, ending with a three-hour, two-part series finale on May 23, 2010."

The 12 episodes are simply the ones that have been completed and have titles.
They are currently filming episodes 13 and 14.

Thought it was typical Lost myself, and yeah I enjoyed it even if I hated it in equal measure.
Have to say Samurai dude and his translator look completely out of place though
More Locke, Jacob and the other guy please...

Well it's not like there's anything really better to watch is there? Somethings gotta fill the void of Dexter and it might as well be this, I'd rather watch this than any other typical new crap they release every 6 months. |
Dexter's first season was good because it was direct from the book, the other seasons sucked. I can not believe that someone disagrees with me, I'm always right come on. Dexter sucks right now. |
I absolutely loved every single season of Dexter and imo they all possess the same quality.
As for Lost, I say only this, unless they complete fuck up the ending of the show, this was one of the best television shows of all time, Lost has great melodramatic plots, which I absolutely love, great acting, and I can't remember of any other show that has kept me thinking long after I see an episode or a season ends, about, what the hell is going on.
And for all of those who are going to reply saying the Lost is predictable and they already figured out the ending, then please share it with the rest of us, because you were the first person to figure things out, something that thousands of die hard fans couldn't do.

*The following might contain light spoilers no one should care about but I'm not gonna tag it*
I'm not sure how I feel about the opening so far. I mean, I just don't see a point of this new timeline whatsoever. I'm sure it will all be explained and it will have major relevance and all that but I don't know I found it a little distracting.
First, we had the flashbacks which I found interesting as backstory to the characters and to see how some characters were involved with each other before coming to the Island making it seem like it was all not a coincidence at all.
Then we had the future flashes (I am not going to fucking call this Flashforwards god that show blows) which were significant because they showed what was going on with the characters after they leave the Island and how that affects them.
And now we have what they coined flash-sideways and after 2 episodes I fail to see the significance. Yes the Island was blown up and some or all of the characters are slightly different than how we know them (Desmond and Jack don't know each other, Hurley has good luck instead of bad, other small changes I didn't notice or forgot most likely as well). I find the events on the Island to be by far more intriguing and wouldn't mind at all if they didn't show the flash-sideways (ok I hate this term as well).
Still I'm gonna keep watching cause I love the show and I wanna see how they wrap it up so that, as they claim, there is no chance for sequels or spinoffs or anything.

Man I love this show to death. Really really liked LA X. Not too often you see a show still firing on all 4 pistons after 6 years. Except maybe The Shield. As far as the importance of you know what, I'm pretty sure it's going to be integrated with the island story.
***SPOILERS***
1. In S1 the stewardess gives Jack 2 bottles of vodka on the plane. In S6, she gives Jack 1 bottle of vodka. The writers even mentioned this discrepancy on Jimmy Kimmel.
2. From Jack's missing coffin to Locke's missing knives, something's afoot between the two universes.
3. Juliet bizarrely asks Sawyer if he wants to get coffee. My theory is her memory briefly "flickered" into the other timeline, similar to when Desmond turned the failsafe key.
*** END SPOILERS***
No idea where this is headed, or how Aaron and Claire and the 2 skeletons fit into the puzzle. But short of a suicidal X-Files style ending, LOST is probably my #1 scifi series of all time, ahead of even BSG.

The writers claim that everything will make sense, so just enjoy the ride
Anyway, is it really true that the series finale on May 23rd will be broadcasted globally?

I assumed there'd be spinoff shows for sure so if they've said differently that's reassuring.

They didn't explain anything, ZILCH. Typical Lost, raise ten questions every episode. I'm waiting for the clusterfuck at the end of the season, can't wait how they'll explain all this shit.
Either the writers are pure genius and they'll explain everything, or they're retards overplaying their hand. I'm betting for the latter.

The island is most certainly some kind of space ship (although I doubt there are any aliens involved in the show), it can even turn out to be a spaceship created by man in the distant future, my main thesis for this lies on 2 facts.
1) The volcano that was introduced in the plot season 3, has been mentioned a few times since, so it might end up being relevant to the show, how does a volcano proofs that the island is something other than a island, easy, everyone who knows what a volcano is, it is basicly a rift in the earths crust that allows lava to be ejected upwards, now, how does an island that is moving through time and space, continuously changing is place on the ocean, ever have an active volcano, the probability for this is certainly very very low.
2)How can an Island sink up to the bottom of the ocean if the sea level remains the same, Islands don't sink, it is sometimes true that they can disappear due to rise in sea level, but they don't sink down to the bottom of the ocean as if it was a sinking boat.
The producers clearly showed us those clues for a reason, and after watching the complete island sinked in the bottom of the ocean, the only rational thing that I can come up upon is that the island is a very large floating body, perhaps not quite a spaceship but something not that far away from that.

We will never know.
They are not gonna explain what the island is , nor the numbers. Like they said before, it would be like trying to explain what is Force in Star Wars...

Actually the producers where very explicit that the answer to those 2 specific questions will be answered before the show ends.

Guess it's just smart business practice - leave some of the stuff wide open so you can start a new series with a cheaper cast and ride on the earlier series' success.
