To again clarify it after installing Ubisoft's little launcher program that the game uses (As per how it worked in Settlers 7 beta.) it'll update, ask for Ubisoft account login and after that you enter the serial and play.
This starts a five second countdown timer (Can choose to start directly.) and during this period you can click a little "gearbox" icon for the launcher settings, doing this asks if you like to enable (Alternatively disable.) the online save functionality.
Thus you don't have to use that function which apparently is a bit buggy at the moment.
(Early launcher version though, got updated once while I played the S7 beta but others had problems with how it lost save info and such so I'd recommend disabling it. assuming a bought copy of course, cracks will most likely either be for the launcher program or remove the connection to the main game completely so you just play as usual, haha.)
EDIT: The Settings.ini for the launcher will look something like this then.
“All Ubisoft is doing is kicking their customers in the face,” he said. “If Ubisoft is going to provide a service that is worse than pirating the game, they are only going to attract more pirates.”
Quote for truth, too bad after AC2 gets pirated to hell and back Ubi will blame it on "ZOMG PIRATES" instead of their own draconic DRM.

Yea, no shit. I was thinking of buying AC2 and/or the new Splinter Cell, but I'm not paying a company money for such idiotic DRM. Securom and CD Key checks are one thing. It's annoying all the layers that companies keep piling on, but one that requires me to be online to play? Games like AC2 and Silent Hunter 5 are the types of games I would really want to play when my internet is down and can't play online. At least some companies are getting a clue. I never thought I'd say this, but hats of to EA for their recent change of heart, after the debacle that was spore. At least they got wise to an extent. When companies realize that their DRM is hurting the paying customer, they'll be the better for it. Companies make shitty games and shitty console ports them blame poor sales on piracy. Companies like Valve and Blizzard seem to have no problem making money off of their games. Ubisoft is going to catch some backlash over this I'm sure. I know I won't be buying any of their games.
I'll buy a game now and then if it's REALLY good AND if it doesn't have some crappy DRM which they market like it's a GREAT FEATURE for the costumer.
And one thing that continues to piss me off is when game companies whine about the number of people pirating their latest game. It's like they are actually looking at the world population and saying "HEY! THERE ARE 6,5 BILLION PEOPLE ON THE EARTH! SO IF WE ONLY SELL HALF A BILLION COPIES, WE HAVE SUSTAINED A LOSS OF 6 BILLION COPIES THX TO THE PIRATES"
I'm sure that kind of logic only flies on Business Schools...Greedy Cunts!
David Champagne: As mentioned, we spent quite some time improving the performances of the PC version by taking advantage of multi-core processors. The PC version also supports much higher resolutions than the console version and multi-sampling modes up to 8X (as opposed to the console version which only supports 2X).
Well, march ain't too far. I don't think that the game will be loads better than the first, but let's wait and see. My friend who is an exclusive PS3 player said that it was perfect, but I don't know. Something tells me that it wont be a too good game.
@DRM - Hmm, what's next?
"Since our losses from AC2 were greater than we anticipated due to the piratisation of the said software, we have decided to work on a more sofisticated system of protection. The idea is that a player buys the game and receives a key code that he/she can use on the Games' homepage. After that he can watch one of our employees play the game as if he/she is playing it himself/herself. The player will be able to choose when will our employee stop playing and when will he start again and the pace he will be playing the game. Buyers of the special collectors edition will also be able to view the live stream at much higher resolutions (even HD)."
I really wouldn't be surprised if they made something like this...
For Assassin's Creed II, we decided to stick to DX9. This allowed us to focus on a single version of the renderer and helped us to achieve the best possible performances.
In other words; "We're lazy cunts and didn't want to actually do any more work, so we just ported the DX9 version from the 360"
sorry but i cant see anything in this article that show "yes, we have confirmed news about AC III, Ezio again etc." that just rumor nothing else.
For me its not confirm anything, it just look alike addon/expansion that add multiplayer to AC games nothing more...
Philippe Bergeron from Ubisoft said
"There are two things that come to mind: There is medieval Europe, which would be very interesting trying to play a King Arthur story line. Another one that is a personal favorite of a lot of people on the floor is feudal Japan, which is something that would be very interesting just culturally to discover and I think also to make players discover as well."
so I still believe there will be different assassin (maybe female )

Check the date of the news: 14th January. Later it was confirmed that upcoming AC is AC 2.5 really, continuing Ezio's story and adding multiplayer. A "proper" AC3 will come later.
