I am also enjoying this title quite bit. I decided to go ahead with the purchase cause ever since I have gotten access to it, I have found myself wanting to play it. for me, that is rare with MMo's these days. I'm usually bored after a few days.

nah. i dont think so.
The game definitely isn't for everyone. . . I honestly can't put my finger on what exactly I find so attractive about it.
Maybe cause I can log in for 15 minutes and actually get something done? Maybe the combat appeals to me as well. . . I dunno. I like the fact that there is SOME kind of tactic to combat. . . even though it is pretty rudimentary. At least it is at the point I am at. it is not just sit there and click a few buttons. i have to worry about ship position and what not.

i also like all the different stuff there is to fool with... officers that i can level up and pick gear and skills for. Equipment for myself. Equipment for my ship.

One thing i don't like is that there is no death penalty to speak of that i can see. I mean i don't want to be HAMMERED with a death penalty. . . but i want SOMETHING.
I also think you should at least take damage to your shields for running into objects.

Im torn on this. I really quite enjoyed what I played of it.
I love that you get the crew and stuff that are almost like pets.
Im a big pet class player. In EQ Necromancer was my favorite and if any game has any sort of pet class, well. . . that's what I will usually try first.

Im leaning hard on buying it. I enjoyed what i played of it more than I have any other MMO I have tried in recent memory. Last thing i got real hyped about was Warhammer. With this game, i didnt know anything about it. maybe that was a good thing. i didn't get overhyped and was instead pleasantly suprised.

Greatest necromancer of all time is in Vanguard. Ur pet gets grafts, which u harvest from killed enemies (extremely low chance to get rare ones, they r there just takes time).
http://www.vgnecro.com/grafts

Fear in EQ is bogus compared to VG's. King of soloing named in VG. Fear (u get 3 of em, one I use if low on mana becuz its a lower spell lvl) is insane & AOE Fear then feign death if ur surrounded is so handy.

Warhammer squig pets were okay I guess. I quit a long time ago. Star Trek Online is just another title Cryptic Studios has ruined, champs before then. One thing VG has is the ability to cast all ur spells & still move but very slow. Every mmorpg should do the same. EQII casting u stand still & dont even need to face the enemy, VG u must be facing. I wont be picking up my CE of ST.

I've played all those games. I played EQ before there were textures for the terrain (in beta). I beta tested Ultima Online. I Beta tested Meridian 59.
I have played EQ II. I played Vanguard. I didn't care much for Vanguard. Course, I did play it when it first came out and it was riddled with bugs and lag. I have the CE of Warhammer. I don't think there is a big name MMORPG I haven't played.
Not everyone likes the same things. That's what makes the world go round.

Got 2 Dual Phaser banks on my ship. Even though it's just the starter ship, I have no problems getting top 3 in Starbase 24.

Loving this game even more.

Yes, it is. Although you can never be 100% safe with these online key stores.

I got the same problem Phluxed. However, the GF and i played through the new super mario bros, and had a blast we have easily spent 20 hrs on the game. Most i've played anything in a long time.

quitwe possibly there is a death penalty later on. No mmo has a penalty in the lower levels (maybe few exceptions).

Btw, seems like they really did a good job patching this baby up since (and during beta). Also is it me, or does it look better than in beta oO ?

I don't want to frighten potential buyers from buying this game but http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=101908. Then again game is like a week old and rushing leveling is maybe not a good tactic yet Laughing

I agree with the guy completely. Yes, rushing in an MMO - especially one so young - is dumb... but come on! NO endgame content whatsoever? You can bet he's not the only guy to hit 45 so far, yet Cryptic didn't include ANYTHING for endgame?

That's poor. In fact, it's worse than poor - it's insulting.

alltho, he edited his posts, because apparantly he missed stuff (so there is endgame content + they're adding content with a patch very soon apparantly).

Guess they just weren't done testing/tuning it and didnt expect people to max level in less than a week
