There are two ways to know that - either you check with people who have played the beta (but this doesnt really represent the final version as you proberbly know) or you run the page I posted further back. Not sure how accurate the page is - but so far its been great help for me with lots of new releases (there is ofc also the information they released...minimum/recomended spec one).
For me the beta worked great apart from the bad servers...and my pc is average.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.

Ok my C2D 3.2 with 5570 is smooth - after 4 days of playing I had only once big slow down when whole building explode. From what I read here, there is no optimisation at all in beta. I doubt, but if that's true game's gonna be a winner for some time with it's engine.
Only problem I had was mouse - I had to down much in options with sensivity on my Habu, becouse mouse "jump" was to big to hit anything from big distance.
Any free keys around? My friend is asking for one.

Tried running the game as an administrator? It fixed no ping problem for me on win7 ...

its one of the things that needs patching. there seems to be a real mess with hit boxes/hit detection / netcode. A lot (and i mean A LOT) of times you can see hits (as in visual blood splatter) but you dont get the "x" you get when you hit something. Also when firing for example on a surface, you will see it misses a lot of the impacts (decals) which makes me think it doesn't count all shells fired as such ...
we will see how this turns out once it goes retail (and patched .. hopefully).

Well, blood splatter but no 'x' is probably because of latency. Graphical part is rendered locally so you get that, by the anti lag thing figures you missed, so no hit.
But overall there should be a lot of improvements when retail comes out. It was said that a lot of stuff was fixed even before the release of the beta, but those were the builds they didn't want to release at the time, I guess.
It would be great, if they finally decided to release an update for the beta, so we could see the improvements before the game hits the stores. But then again, it wouldn't make much sense, if it comes too close to the release date. And this is probably why they are still unsure whether to do this or not. It does take away dev time they need to release the game on time, after all.

Actually your observation makes a lot of sense... wasn't there a hack promo vid on youtube for bf:bc2 beta recently that showed the guy with infinite ammo? shows there is no ammo counter server-sided, thus it also makes sense that enemies don't die after firing a whole mag at them and then while you reload they kill you with 2 shots.
maybe the server just does not register that you shot at all, and since the ammo counter is client sided you do not notice

While it does make sense, it would be a way too much of a nasty bug to make it even into the beta, in my opinion. Having half of your ammo vanish into thin air seems like something they would fix immediately.
It is possible it is more of a performance consideration, with so much shooting going around, but what do I know.

Well, I've noticed that too. Hypernia HC are fake. Look for LA HC. I've played there yesterday.
|
Unfortunately I'm in the EU so those LA servers are way too high-latency for me
I usually try a few Eliottness servers until I get an hardcore one

Just recently I had to switch to DX9 due to hack being written for that API, but the big surprise was that the map now loads 5 seconds instead of 2 minutes. I can also enable HBAO and still get higher fps than DX10, it isn't also as blurry sif someone would keep sneezing on my screen.
That is on HD4850, Quad Phenom and Raid 0

@TheMdk - I am EU player myself, but what is suprsing with this Beta, I have totally no problem with latency on USA servers. Lately I've even playing on Sydney server and I had no laggs at all O.o At least I didn;t see it, I dont know about those who was aiming at me.
Yesterday I was on nfoserves.com LA and was smooth.
Anyways I don't see a ping in server browser.
Things that piss me off:
- setting class profiles / weapons every time I join server,
- setting game's volume every single time I join server ( in windows mixer - W7),
- server browser doesn't remember settings - not empty, not full etc.,
- bullets missing with LMGs,
- little number of HC servers.
Despite of that - GOTY.

But the server browser DOES have pings listed, they're in the last column to the right...
I can get around 60-90 for EU servers and 100+ when going on USA ones, the Sydney ones even have 170 so I wouldn't really risk it on those

LoL I didn;t notice ping xD It is usually the most important thing for me, it was very import. in MW2, but here, as I said, even on US and A servers gameplay is smooth. Good net code.

Odd, AA seems to be working for me on W7 (using DX11 though).
One of devs posted a while back, that there is a known issue with no AA against the skybox, I didn't read into it too much, but may be that's the problem?
Edit: Just checked, no AA on buildings - so yeah, AA is not working properly.

Well I do notice a lot of jaggies even though performance impact is there. At this point it is kinda selective AA, objects such as players seem to be smooth, but buildings and especially wires are jagged out.
I'll try to disable AA later, see if I spot any difference.
This post might be useful,it has settings comparisons with screeshots, check the AA section - link
About Red dots and other scopes... I waited to unlock them myself, but then, later upgrades makes you think twice about choosing them. More ammo/grenades/c4/rockets/mobility... it's not fair to stick scopes along with all that, it's odd that they designed it that way.
