Are the EXE files the only files patched?

As far as I can see yes, odd way of patching though, downloaded some file with a random number as the name then created a AvP.exe.old file from the previous EXE, ran it trough winmerge and while the size was identical large sections had been altered.
EDIT: Marine campaign seems to be the only one with some issues under DX11 (As DX10) mode as far as I can see now, Pred and Alien campaign works fine so far but I've only tested the first level.
(Used to crash if sound frequency wasn't lowered on the Alien campaign when you got the "number" and the Pred campaign crashed shortly after the prologue AVI had ended previously.)
Will keep using DX9 mode though, it's not as if it looks any different though it might have performance benefits via DX10 in that other mode, heh.
EDIT: Mostly discovered by accident though, even if you start AvP.exe instead of AvP_DX11.exe it'll start in DX11 mode via Steam so it has to be started from there by right clicking and choosing "run as dx9"
(It'll abort the start of the EXE otherwise and run the launcher which will run the DX11 EXE via Steam or how to describe it.)
EDIT: Then again ATI did this so it might also be why it's unstable, to use crack and rename the EXE or use the updated files, quite a dilemma, haha.
(There is no DX11 specific EXE profile for some reason.)
EDIT: Re-verified Steam integrity cache, old exe got downloaded, ran it and it created a temporary file called FCEEC49B-4CCD-45D6-BB31-something and then replaced the EXE with the updated one, made a copy of both and this process repeated whenever I launched the old exe, unsure what it's doing.
EDIT: That seems strange.
(Some sort of dummy? if that's what was cracked perhaps that would explain some of the problems and issues experienced with the crack, or maybe that's what Razor properer and it caused that save error, can't say, lack the knowledge about this sort of thing.)

It's not really demanding. Just make sure you're running avp.exe and not the launcher or the DX11.exe

Fuck the bugs in this game.. I REALLY want to play this game but the stuttering is killing me! Sometimes the game freezes for about 5 seconds with no reason at all. It's unplayable. I've ALT+TAB the game and I saw that the game runs in "Low" priority mode and if I change it, it goes back to low!
Also some NPC's don't talk at all (like Tequila on the very first mission)

I don't recall the 260 supporting DX11...? I guess I missed something a page back re: using dx11 exe for some reason?

avp should run in in dx10 with 260, but mine crashes on new game/save game load after menu (w7/x64). dx9 is running smooth, 60+ fps, no hitching/suttering/etc, damn mouse filtering/smoothering is driving me nuts though

I usually stay around 40 - 60 FPS but certain sections do see a lower framerate, lowest was that predator vessel landing right before the mission started, probably shader related.
(35 FPS.)

I have the razor 15gb release, the crashing is prolly fixable from the ati control panel.
I did install vcredist and dx from the release (had no audio before this).

I've kicked this buggy POS into touch until the worst of the issues get resolved. Running it on win7 32 gtx260 blah blah I started the marine campaign got no sound so whacked the sample rate down to 44100 24 bit (48000 did nuthin for me).
After that I got sfx but no dialogue from Tequila once I got outta the intial warehouse hangar space. This can't be just a simple sound card issue because the subrittles don't come up either. This was running in on AVP.exe cause dx11/10 gave me CTD after cutscenes everytime.
So I booted up XP and installed the game into there where everything wentn fine until I had to follow some other (non-tequila) female marine upstairs after the nightclub shoot up. The HUD left me standing on the stairs nothin happening so go upstairs running around tryin to find in game trigger to start the next scripted sequence but nothin. No go ho hum what a yawn.
I hate games that are a series of scripted 'adventures' at the best of times but when the damn scripts don't work fuggitaboutit.
Some of the issues will be the crack no doubt about it (releasing a game that doesn't save has to be dummy of the year RLD) and razor may have missed a couple checks in their hurry to catch up but the game itself has issues, the steam forum appaears chocka with legit buyers screaming about the sound.
I suppose I shouldn't complain because my torch is working, whooptedoo! maybe torch is a 64 bit issue only.

Here's something!
I installed the game as per the instructions and ran steam , it said the game was ready to be played. I played the game and noted crashs , menu errors and oddities!. Ran the steam repair option and found a good number of files that needed to be fixed. Ran the game again and all was well , which leads me to believe the RAZOR release is fucked in some way and NOT crack related.
I tried it again , same thing file corruption and this was Pre crack!
P.S I used the DX 11 option , used flashlight and it worked fine. So again razor is fucked

Just a guess, but i have changet pretty much every option there to quality (not "let application decide") i'll have to check if I can get it to crash when i get home.

I'm sure there's sth wrong with razor crack, there's only tessellation option in the DX11 Enhanced Features memu, no AA and Shadow options
I'm using 5870, I've tried to reinstall my 64-bit W7, and tried 9.10/ 9.11/9.12/10.1/10.2 cat drv. all same problem, it seems the steam version which guys paid for it have no such problem on their 5870 cards
