Which site do you have problems defending? The first B is pretty easy, 1 guy at the border crossing and 1 on the right takes care of allmost all atv attacks in the beginning. The only problem I see now are the fast loaders who can take advantage of a non-spawned defense but in actual matches that wont be a problem Very Happy

Typically, first A.

I spawn as an engie with mines that tanks seem to totally ignore when on uneven terrain (approach to A). After mining A i tend to throw a couple around the crossroads and typical suicide B rush points. By the time i've done this, A is usually gone to C4 and i'm swearing at my team Smile

Mines usually catch the AA tank rush for B but people are getting good with that thing. i've seen them destroy both a and b from in thier spawn.

It makes for mostly frustrating gameplay.

When the game is good though, it's incredibly good Smile

A is usually not well defended in the beginning. I tend to spawn engi and rush A and defend it the first couple of minutes Smile

and yea you really get some epic fighting. It happens quite often too, imo Very Happy

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\BFBC2Beta

find the Settings.ini and change the Bloom variable to false

if you change any vid settings in game it tends to turn it back on

No way to turn off shadows,as it affects gameplay (not seeing enemy's shadow for example), it was answered a while back by one of the devs.

Well, you might not, but they do - it's not balanced for no shadows Smile
Also it isn't just enemies, no shadows allows to see more. They are trying to avoid things like hardcore gamers like to do - putting every detail on low to get an advantage. Preventing that in MP games seems to be the trend nowadays.

Not feature?

Is it me, or HC rounds are not 1/2 faster?

The game runs noticeably faster on my dual core now, so that's great. It still feels a bit off sometimes, like it's not really smooth even at high FPS, I wonder why. It's more consistent in performance though, that's for sure.
But anyhow ran a few benchmarks. Average FPS seems to be consistent at 40-45. Minimum never goes below 20, and max is all over the place from 80 to 140 Smile
What's interesting is that's even with HBAO on. They seem to have made that thing less of a performance hog. So now I am all maxed out(as far as the game allows) and still it's playable.
Supposedly there are even more optimizations in retail, the game is finally shaping up Smile

I meant lag, not FPS. I warped / skid back to where I was before when I try to move. I join servers with <50 ping but still get this Sad

I already knew what it was for, that's why i didn't cancel my pre-order the second i realized it didn't run at 60fps at all times. Laughing

What PC have you got?

With my ancient

Core2Duo e6600@3Ghz
Ati 4870 1GB
2GB DDR2

I'm playing at steady 40fps, all on high except the LOD set on medium (1600*1200, AA2x, AF2x) using the official Catalyst 10.2 (Win7 x64).

If you still have WindowsXP (x86 or x64 doesn't make the difference) than this could be the problem: as I said before, it's a pretty well known fact that switching from XP to W7 can guarantee a gain of at least 10-15fps.

Another protip:
in your Settings.ini change the line "DxVersion=auto" into "DxVersion=dx9", set the file to "Read-only" and you'll gain 5-10fps with no iq lost.

Smile

The only chance you have is to play on hardcore servers
