don't really know were to start but here i go.
it's been a while since my sisters laptop (Amilo) started having some problems. it receives quite frequently memory dumbs and usually it takes sometime before windows can load properly again. the catch is i've noticed that usually before a memory dumb the fan starts working like crazy (very loud sometimes, i can hear it from my room while she's in her room). not sure if the memory dumb is related to the fan but it might just be (heat i think).
a few days ago, during another memory dumb, i decided to reinstall Win on the laptop but this time i decided to use Win7, mainly because i saw W7 driver support on fujistu official site (and it also behaves better than Vista). everything went smoothly, W7 had drivers for everything the laptop needed and decided not to install any drivers.
anyway, yesterday she received a video driver error while watching a movie in Gom Player and i decided to install the latest video drivers i found on fujitsu's site. after the 1st restart it loaded W7 very very hard but it worked. after the 2nd restart it gave an error during load, something like "can't load windows" (didn't manage to see it properly) and it gave me 2 options:
1. to start some kind of recovery -> the laptop powered down (as in like pressing the Shut-down button) soon after receiving this command
2. start windows -> started loading Win but in the end, the system restarted
of course i decided to reinstall Win7 again. now this sucks. while booting from dvd, at the end of, let's say stage 1 (the one with Setup is loading files) and before it could let me choose the partition were i wanted W7 to install, the system powered down. no error, no nothing. just like that. after trying a Vista dvd (with which i managed to get to format C: drive) it went smoothly.

today i decided to format the entire hdd of the laptop and though i managed to get there with a W7 dvd, i am unable to install windows on the laptop. no windows (tried XP, Vista, 7). as you know, with no partitions made, the system auto-boots the cd/dvd. here's the catch. no matter what cd/dvd i use, it always gives me the same problem. as soon as it's finishes to load whatever files the setup needs in order to continue the installation, the system simply shuts down.
can anyone explain me cos i simply can't understand it??????????????

EDIT: a friend of mine suggested that everything might be related to that stupid fan going crazy before a memory dumb. anyway, i decided to shut down the laptop for like half an hour and then try to install W7 again. this time it worked. i am installing it as we speak.
so, is it possible that the fan does not cools the components as it should and that is why i was unable to install Win earlyer (overheat i guess) and it might just be responsible for those memory dumb? indirectly speaking

i've been tracking the cpu heats with everest and so far, it's been ok. the temps stay somewhere between 55-75 C. pretty wide difference i must say but let's just say it's ok. i also think that a fan replace is required but i still hope a laptop support with fans might just save me from a lot of trouble.

oh, btw, today i tried to create new partitions with FDISK command and i think it gave me an error. well, it was an error but i hope someone might answer me. the hdd has a capacity of 250gb and when i tried to create the partitions, Fdisk only showed me a hdd capacity of 23gb ..... can anyone explain?
is it possible that Fdisk can not detect the hdd properly because it's SATA 1 or SATA 2 while Fdisk was designed for IDE ?
