Since when those "recommended" reqs are true anyway? They all fucked up and just wrong... get over it, your hardware isn't capable for the game and there is nothing we or you can do about it atm.

Nice... Rolling Eyes Why should I "Get over it" if the requirements are wrong???

Because they are fucking wrong in every fucking game. But AvP is special I guess and it's unacceptable, right? You're very naive if you believe in those reqs.

Actually, for the last couple of years I have always could count on the recommended requirements being right for every game I have played with my current system even Crysis.

I think we were worse off in the 90's and up to about 05, after that I never really experienced false requirements.

Anyway, the Steam forums are full of people with the SAME problem despite them having really big rigs like 2 GB Vram and more than 4 gigs of system ram, and it affects both ATI and Nvida owners regardless of their OS, so something is WAY off.

I know how it is to be a noob at this game, but if you are patient you will soon Rule the battlefield Smile
A good way of training is to play the single player campaigns on the Harder difficulty settings Wink

I know that there are several people with problems. But I don't think this is the majority. I think the majority is playing the game and doesn't bother to post on the several forums. They just don't need to. I didn't want to offend you or anything. I'm just saying that some hardware/software configurations aren't capable for the game and there is nothing we (players) can do about it atm. Asking the same questions every 5 minutes doesn't do shit about it. (That goes to everyone here with problems, not especially you or something)

I'm not offended, and I really enjoy playing this game even if it's not with everything on high Smile
I just got an answer (and that was a straight answer) from one of the Rebellion guys on the Steam Forum.
This is what he told me.

"The recommended requirements are tailored towards users running the game using the "normal" texture detail setting.

The high or very high texture detail settings are for users exceding the recommended requirements, although results will vary depending on the specific setup of a users computer."

And he answered another guy about Texture sizing in AvP3.

"High" results in texture sizes of up to 1024x1024

"Very High" results in texture sizes of up to 2048x2048

VRAM usage will vary by level. How the VRAM usage is managed, varies by DX mode/Operating system."

AND, finally, he gave us this piece of info Smile

"If you are unable to run the game without encountering stuttering in "high" on any DX mode, then it does sound like you are being limited by amount of available VRAM on your card.

The discrepancy between SP and MP levels is the level size - and therefore the amount of textures your computer will be trying to load/manage. MP levels are smaller, and so require less VRAM (as an average - users have noticed the "gateway" map which is large, having "stuttering" issues).

We have worked hard on optimising the game which hopefully acounts for your "beautiful" performance! Unfortunately, raw frame rate is not necessarily an indication of the texture detail a player is able to reliably use.

The recommended graphics card for "high" is a card with approximately 1GB of VRAM, for "very high" a card in excess of 1GB. As results can vary between different computer setups, it is hard to get more specific than that - general system RAM available can have an effect.

There are users who have posted on these forums who are able to run both of those settings with no issues, this question is perhaps better directed at them if you want *exact* specfics as they will be able to give you further details regarding their system setup beyond what gfx card they are using."

So I got what I wanted, straight answers from the Devs. Nice Smile

This problems occur for some people (at least they say so, wouldn't be surprised if they pirated it and complain ^^) with the retail versions too.

As we all know Aliens versus Predator was banned in Germany due to having too much gore but today Rebellion announced that they have managed to change gamecode in order to comply with requirements of german law.
"We were trying to reduce level of aggression and gore without limiting gameplay mechanics and the atmosphere of Aliens vs Predator universe but of course some sacrifaces had to be made." said Rebellion's Lead Designer Tim Jones

The game should be ready soon and here are the first screenshots:

I finally finished the Alien campaign last night, so I have beaten all the campaigns and have played a decent amount of multi. I don't know why the decided to put ranks in this game, since all you get are skins, but I did the "log in to ranked game, exit out, play single player" for mutli xp and now have all the skins unlocked.

Overall, I thought each of the campaigns were pretty fun. The marine was probably the most boring, but it wasn't bad. The cut scenes in the game are very well done and the story is pretty interesting really. I played the marine on hard and the predator and alien on normal. I'd say all in all, it took about 12 hours or so to complete. I was pretty happy with the single player and felt it was fun. I felt it captured the feel for each of the races and the predator and alien missions were particularly enjoyable, as they were different than your standard FPS game.

As for the multi, I tend to like it better the more I play. I'm still not really great at it, especially as the alien, but it's pretty damned fun to play. As soon as my buddy gets his new sun boxes back to the local data center, I'm thinking of hosting species TDM and mixed species TDM server. Hopefully the dedicated servers will be out soon because that's going to make the game a lot better IMO.

I do feel there are a few balance issues in multi, but in all honesty, much of that is related to the map being played. For instance, the alien feels very underpowered on jungle maps, but is much more beastly in maps like pyramid. I do think the alien phermone range needs to be increased. It's way too small right now. The marine pulse rifle seems to be a little too accurate at long range IMO and I'd like to bullet spread the farther away the target is. I see a lot of complaints about the predator disc, but really the only issue I see is that it can be used in melee range. I think that once the bugs are fixed, dedicated servers are released, and a few tweaks to balance are done, the game will be quite solid.

Lastly, I hope they release the 4 special edition maps free very soon. The game only has 6 multi and 2 survivor maps, so it's pretty damn skimpy on content to begin with. As long as it's free, it will definitely help things out.

Final verdict: 8/10

Log in to a "ranked" game, once it says "1 players connected, looking for 7 more", back out to the main menu and play a single player game. You will gain multi XP in a single player game. I know this is an exploit, but it's like who the fuck cares on this game. You don't gain an advantage from it, else I would not use it. Having to unlock skins is pretty fucking lame IMO. Anywyays, this works for now. It may be fixed in an upcoming patch, however.
