here's another video:

Looks really good, some minor graphic glitches. The sound ambiance in the ship seems a bit dull, it should be more lifelike and a bit more noisy (chatter, tool noises etc).

Maybe, many modders have stated they won't be buying SH5 until the drm is removed.

Yeah but most people have a big mouth but lack the action points when it comes down to it. I suspect most of people who bitch about this drm would

a: Not have bought the game in the first place and is just bitching about it casue they can't pirate it imidiatly on release.

b: Buy it anyway even after saying they wont.

Personally I don't see the big fuzz about the new drm is really. They have any right to protect their business how they see fit. Steam have had same protection for years to some degree. Many games were unplayable if servers were down and you couldnt log in.

I look forward to testin this game as it seems to have "star trek bridge commander" ideas in it Smile
that u can talk to your crew etc Smile

Anyways about DRM/protection in general, imo the companies should put money into quality control, instead of high yield protection that holds at most 1-3 months when new.
Either way its fine as long as it isnt as Bioshock 1 protection...
Brought it and couldnt play for a few days due to some fuck up with serial numbers in securom or such.

And they changed it because people hated it, so your point is. . .

How about those of us that game remotely on laptops? I often bring my laptop to the lake, the allergist's office, or on a 4 hour trip to my in-laws house while my wife drives where I have no access to the Internet. Why they couldn't just have an offline mode like Steam is beyond me.

Here's hoping it's cracked!

Why? SH4 plays perfect with the settings maxed out. (Intel Core i7-720QM Quad Core processor , 4GB DDR3 Memory, 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M)

Peoples urge to play a game is alot higher than anything else, so this DRM will turn out profitable for ubisoft as proven by ppl on nforce buying games.

According to member posts on subsim, the game is buggy as hell. Another broken release from Ubisoft Romania.
Quote:
First: My partol is done. I sank 50K tons off the British coast. I did my regular partol. But yet I still can't dock at Kiel. The place that I took off from. I can only refit that is all.

I tried everything. Now I'm parked in the sub pen, but yet I still cannot end my patrol. WTF is going on?

Like to tell the devs something... When its not broke don't fix it. Auto TDC worked fine in the last 2 games. Why did you go and make this very silly new system for.

Don't use TDC ON. Bad for auto...
1. Set your torpedo speed for it reaches the ship numbers on the Tac Map. Matters how close you are.

Now line up the closes two numbers to each other and push the stupid fire button.

Connect the dots. You have about a 75% chance of hitting it at this point.

Good luck.

Auto connect the dots they should call it. What a disgrace.

AND LAST:

Enemy AI Destroyer do not respond to attacks. Fought now 3 convoys destroye a Ship in the convoy and they do nothing. They don't even change course.

Enemy AI planes are the same. They fly right over head as you and your crew wave at them and they do nothing. NOTHING. I can't even see the planes to be honest. I can hear them. But not see them.

Too be honest SHV seems broken to me right now. Very poor manual, very poor info on how things work. Very poor overall. And I usually don't rant much on things.

The least you guys can do is tell us how to actually use TDC and Auto and Manual correctly.

Man what a shame.

I hope the DRM will get cracked soon.

Screens. (Gamersgate version, not that it matters.) it's a lot more complex (If set to be.) than this shows, many keys to remember and tactical decisions to take and such stuff. Razz

Good game though, unsure about it being "buggy" haven't encountered anything problematic yet there's some slight hitches when speeding trough the game due to streaming ("time compression" higher than 8x ) but without it traveling from say Germany to Africa would take hours. Very Happy
(Still takes a few ingame days of course so managing resources like fuel and so on is important.)

And yeah I don't like the DRM system but I do support the game, it's not a huge issue for me in the first place and it'll be cracked eventually making it a non issue.

Once fully available (EU release date is tomorrow isn't it?) I'm sure more groups or just anonymous people ("homemade") will be working on the protection, kinda like how Reloaded waited a while and then released several SecuROM 7 titles (Previously only available as clones.) and since then SecuROM hasn't been much of a issue. Smile
(Same with Star-Force which is kinda dead now outside of Russia due to it's price there or something.)

There's more screens here as well showing of the game better.
