Watch the xbots shell out cash like crazies over this "extensive" "content" pack, proving yet again how this model of excluding content from release is smart business.

Any recomendations to change something in config files maybe? I think I'll try changing FOV to 90 or something.
I play at 5:4 1280x1024. |
At FOV 100 it's playable for me, stil little dizzy sometimes, but game is worth it.
Strange I have this only in Bioshock games, no other game ever had that effect on me (and I'm playing since late 80's!)

Haha, yeah I tried to do a quick answer to your question, patch itself was added to various sites yesterday it seems, guess there's a little delay from LIVE update to when sites get ahold of the patch files.
(And should the patch program cause problems the -f parameter for setup.exe can be used to force a path to extract/install the files to, also useful to see what's updated.)

I don't understand as the Reloaded release that I have came with a cracked launcher, so how will I be able to use that crack with the new patch?
Is it because the patch is not doing anything to the singleplayer .exe file?

I renamed the new launcher to ....launchero.exe , so that the RLD launcher will use the new one, but it still says version 1.0 ingame.
JBeckman what does it say for you ?

1.0 Steam original so it's not a problem.
(EDIT: Atleast it shouldn't be a problem.)
EDIT: Might be due to it being Steam though, but it's also noticeable in that LIVE will nag for a update until installed at which point it'll be quiet, that could just be a registry value check though.
EDIT: If the version number is in the launcher it's not a huge problem though as the rest of the game will be updated, launcher is pretty small (Aside from SecuROM.) so it can't really contain anything important.)

Finished this game yesterday and I must say that IMO this game is nearly good as first Bioshock. 9/10 for me.

I just installed the patch and copied all files from the reloaded crack, the game starts but the menu still says 1.0 and strange enough, when I loaded a savegame the game took a long time to load in all textures (normally it takes a second for me and now it's 5 seconds so not a major issue I just think it's strange)
But the big question that I like to have answered is if they actually fixed widecreen for 16:10 monitors. I have read the changelog, but the guys at Widescreen Gaming says that it's only fixed for 16:9 and 16:10 users like me are fucked as we have less screen now.
Maybe I misunderstood something, but this game is really weird when it comes to proper widescreen support (Amateur night at 2K maybe???)

Yes I have read the same about widescreen, unsure about the loading times though, might have to do a re-run ("evil" ending perhaps.) to test it myself.
EDIT: Misunderstood, it's the streaming you are talking about, yes I noticed some places take a while to fully stream in the highest quality level of a texture.
(Unsure if it's some aggressive optimization to reduce texture memory usage or something else, could be a bug as well.)

You shouldn't copy all the files from the RLD crack. The RLD crack has a ...launchero.exe which is the unpatched original launcher. Rename the patched ...launcher.exe to ...launchero.exe so that it uses the new file.
Only use RLD ..launcher.exe and rld.dll from RLD's original crack.

Could be, But i think I was one of the few who didn't have any issues except for the widescreen stuff when I completed the 1.0 version, so I don't maybe the patch messed with something.
About me copying every file from the Reloaded Crackfix, I think that maybe we need a new crackfix for this new patch because when I patch the game and copy everything from the fix I must be overwriting some new patched files as it's both a cracked launcher and a cracked Bioshock2.exe plus the rest. Because the patch definitely overwrites files that is needed to start the game, i know because I tried to start the game after patching without reapplying the crackfix.
So maybe that is why the menu still says 1.0 and then it's very likely that the game doesn't function as it should.
I got a bad hangover today so if don't make sense you know why

Thx man! I have done what you said and I guess maybe everything works fine, but I still get the 1.0 in the menu screen.
|
So do I with my bought version which is fully updated..it's just the way it is.

I finished the game yesterday and my personal opinion is that its gunplay is better than the first, mainly because of the weapons+upgrades. The story is about the same convoluted and sometimes boring and naive stuff as the first.
Art direction is awesome (same as the first) I found the last couple of hours of gameplay really good and the ending was awesome.
