I'm finding the whole thing mildly exciting if I'm honest. I know that it can be corrected by clearing your CMOS by disconnecting the battery and I'll do that tomorrow if I have to but SONY wouldn't be able to ask their run of the mill end users to do that themselves over the phone.

Imagine they can't fix it with an update, or if it doesn't auto correct itself at 00:00.01 GMT..it will go down in history as one of the biggest, most monumental fuck ups of all time and would no doubt set them back billions in repair and shipping fee's alone. It's would be a PR disaster.

There would be discovery channel documentaries made about it, people would speak about it for years. Maybe even decades.

Black Monday 2010.

We live in exciting times people.

Yes a bit of excitement to brighten up the day. Hell it's not like any of us use our PS3s to play games anyway - but it's going to be interesting to see if it rights itself in a couple of hours.

...and if it does, how Sony explains away their 'fix in 24hrs' statement. I can't believe they would bullshit that response out and just wait for the clocks to strike midnight Laughing

*all smiles right now, but if it doesn't fix itself... Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil

I just turned on my phat PS3 for the first time today and it's fine. My date was correct and I can play MW2 online. I will be getting BC2 tomorrow so I am glad it's ok! Hopefully Sony releases a fix for all the people that cannot connect soon.

much work involved with opening the ps3 up? does it have all those stoopid tiny lady finger tabs like the xbox?

am wondering how many shops are collecting consoles all day promising a fix by tomorrow. So many parents freaking out, never thinking of checking the internet etc to find out. Just worried cos the kid is throwing a tantrum.

It's not working for everyone, I'd wait unless you're desperate. Some people are reporting missing trophies (etc). I'd rather wait for official confirmation and follow the madness on neogaf; http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=388872&page=75

In MW2, it went from 245 000 to 265 000 players in a matter of 10 minutes

I think I would take an internal clock issue that is not hardware related, to a Red Ring of Bullshit, any day of the week.

more bad news. Theres a few people complaining on irc that their PS3 slim's are getting the yellow light of death error since this issue has cropped up :/

Just run mine, all is well so far, made sure i didnt connect it to PSN just in case. IF this is causing YLOD's Sony is truly fucked Laughing

Everythings back to normal for me too so that's nice.

Cohen, I don't see how a clock probem could cause the YLOD. It will just be coincidence.

You don't need to wait. Everything's fine with the world again you can go ahead and boot up heavy rain.
