It's slightly less than 300MB in size. Assorted fixes, some perf improvements, fov controllable via Settings.ini (fov=55 default I think) and um some other things. More info later.
How does free launch day DLC work in PC version? Is it built in or is it like consoles where you need another code? It would be stupid if it wasn't built in cos you can't resell or return PC games anyway. Anyone know more about this?
It gave me a notice when I ran the update program (Shortcut probably launches that first.) but starting the EXE directly should work, and you could click "no" and let it update some other time it seems.
EDIT: MP and redeem codes now work as intended.

oh... i see a patch just come out, it disabled my reloaded version so im having to dl my digital copy now.. shitty.
but i did notice the reloaded version wasnt getting any kind of message for an update when there is an update out, i got my update and 'you got the old version' message from the ea download manager. i kept getting booted from servers and figured something is going on.
so i wonder if this patch helped any with the performance.
Also EADM might not say anything about a update so run the BFBC2Updater exe directly to patch the game, use the EA serial to activate and play, no need to redownload.
yeah you have to redownload because it updates the exe and ask for the disc. at least from the download manager
the patch, theres no patch notes but from what this is what i know is or is supposed to be in the patch,
300mbs
FOV
Mouse Tweakd
Dual Core Optimisations
2 maps

Aha so it's AO, HBAO, SSAO, and HDAO in terms of quality (And performance cost.).
(Was partially based on the devs saying they used a advanced form of ambient occlusion in that interview I posted earlier and Call of Pripyat listing it as SSAO, HBAO and HDAO or something like that.)
I'm pretty sure HDAO would provide the best visuals as it's something like high-definition ambient occlusion but also the worst performance, seems to allow for DX11 Direct Compute acceleration as well from another post I saw in the Pripyat thread.
I have not compared them directly though I did play around with them unofficial in Clear Sky (1.6.09 added them via console commands.) though it was hard to see any noticeable differences. (It's a very soft effect after all, adds a bit more shadowing to corners and models or how to describe it.)
I think SSAO (The default.) gave the strongest effect though that doesn't mean it's the best as I believe HDAO was a bit more accurate, can't say much about HBAO as I didn't know anything about it until recently.
(Thought it was like HDAO but with a sort of soft blur initially, seems that was inaccurate.)
Unsure how Bad Company incorporates it but I think it uses standard ambient occlusion and then allows for HBAO when ticked as a slight improvement.
(It's very hard to notice outside of direct comparisons.)
EDIT: (From the beta so overall medium quality.)
HBAO off
HBAO on
Picked up my preorder. Compared to the beta, I'm even more impressed and more enjoying the MP. The maps seem very nice. The gameplay is quite frenetic/hectic. Performance seems nice on my 4870/512 + q9550@stock at forced dx9. I'll try dx10 next.
I set fov to 100 and it's so much better now. Of course enemies are a bit harder to see directly in front because they are smaller but now I have peripheral vision which is a fine trade off.
A few problems I've had..
I got completely stuck in a window for a couple minutes until a sniper killed me. There are spots where I got temporarily stuck on the ground too, between some rocks.
Even though I have 5.1 speakers, I still think some/many of the sounds are monaural, especially explosions.
Enjoying the game.. Glad to have a new battlefield on PC!!
I changed my RenderAheadLimit to 1 and it seems okay so far. Had a couple hickups but I think the decrease in lag with only 1 frame ahead is worth it. Haven't tried zero yet.
I am one of the people with a CPU that is much faster than my GPU and was having the skip ahead issue so I'm guessing I don't need as much render ahead.
