On the very same page as your post, this can be found:
Spoiler: | REPLiCORE wrote: | In order to properly freeze the timer (not quite the same value as the one tested earlier in this thread, mind you), do the following (CheatEngine is needed, google it):
1) Start Just Cause 2, trigger the timer by jumping off the platform. Press F1 (or 'Back' if you're using an Xbox 360 controller) and check what the timer says. Memorize it.
2) Alt-tab out and start CheatEngine. In CheatEngine, browse the processes and select JustCause2.exe. Choose 'Unknown initial value' from the 'Scan type' drop-down list, '4 Bytes', and hit the 'First Scan' button.
3) Go in-game again, un-pause and let some time go by.
4) Again, open the PDA and check how many seconds have gone by. Alt-tab back to CheatEngine and search for a new value, this time a 'Value increased by...' (or, as listed by the program, 'Increased value by...'), and enter the appropriate value (the time in seconds that passed) in the 'Value:' box.
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you find the correct value, usually an address starting with '1A5'.
6) When found, double-click it to add it to the box below. Freeze it and play for as long as you want.
This works for me, I managed to play for quite some time (before I quit manually, that is ).
Credit goes to user Nioreh83 (is that you, JBeckman? ) on the SweClockers boards, I merely translated it. |

Can somebody explain better what to do in step 4? |
The missing part is:
After doing step 4, press 'next scan"
it will list all the memory values that have increased by your specified amount. then go back in game, notice what the timer says, un-pause it, let a few seconds go by, pause, and note the time. Figure out how many seconds went by between pauses and put that value in, and hit next scan again. the memory results list will get shorter. Keep doing the steps until you are left with 1 value.

That was true for the first methods, but the latest method with the cheatengine instructions does indeed work. I just finished playing for over an hour. I also did the hex edit to the exe to remove the map limit.
Thank you guys so much!

The steps work perfectly. There is no confusion, enter the amount of seconds that has passed into the box, change the "scan type" for "Increased value by" and click "Next scan"
It's not hard.
*sorry, typo.

i got to this step
4) Again, open the PDA and check how many seconds have gone by. Alt-tab back to CheatEngine and search for a new value, this time a 'Value increased by...' (or, as listed by the program, 'Increased value by...'), and enter the appropriate value (the time in seconds that passed) in the 'Value:' box.
but the value is greyed out

@Slizza
Glad it worked this time =)
@Evilmonkey
That's because you didn't change the scan type to "unknown initial value"
Come on guys, it is NOT that hard. Just read the instructions carefully.
