Cohen, I can see the difference...I just can't see a huge difference. It's not that big of a deal to me. That's what I was saying but If I ever buy it (which is highly unlikely) I'll do so for the PS3 for sure.

That's rich coming from you. You've posted more than anyone else on the subject |
Yes, yes it is.
But it's over now, tb was correct, the PS3 is better, now lets get on and play the damn thing

Yeah let's play, but first
 |
hehheh
good call.
But in the graph it shows both console versions at 20fps and the 360 version at 20fps for a far longer period yet you labelled the 360 version '30' and the ps3 version '20'?

Are you shitting me? This is like arguing whom would you rather fuck: Natalie Portman or Anna Paquin - they are both fine pieces of ass.

TB: Green bar on graph = 360. Blue bar on graph = PS3.
Ergo, 360 stays locked at 30fps, PS3 drops to 20fps for considerable amounts of time.

Anyones save files all over the place? The game doesn't automatically order it by play time, so I was thinking I lost a save, only to find it all the way to the right of my newest numbered save. Just a weird clusterchuck going on.

I've only got three saves and they're ordered properly here; Newest to oldest.

It's the same as the original Xbox; when the machine is unplugged, it loses the date settings. Mine were 2005 too, just reset the date and it's fine.

cheers, yeah you would think that with all the updates, something may have been done about that little annoyance.

They can't fix it with an update. The 360 has no internal battery and as such it has no way to keep time when you disconnect it from it's power source. If you're connected to live it autocorrects as soon as it logs in anyway.

yeah. never on live. never knew about no battery, makes sense.
re ff, its just getting better as it goes along. the fighting does get quite complex, and i think even on disk 2, am still learning new stuff. excited for disk 3 when i can go out on the world alone.

Just finished the game. I liked the combat system but man no airship, no freedom until ch. 11, no world map, no real side missions (only 64 monster hunt missions), no hidden items or secret bosses and too much friggin cutscenes.

Technically all of that is a spoiler. Some people don't like to play knowing when/what to expect at what time.
While I appreciate the scope of the design Final Fantasy has given us here - it feels a bit too streamlined and "developers vision". There are times when you have to give the fans what they want. Towns is not it; but a sense of being in control of the story is. I'm about halfway or so through, and the games pacing is just too deliberate here. Also the section with
Spoiler: | Hope and Snow |
just felt too damn cheap. Enemies automatically targetting the weaker team member just because they wanted you to build your Sentinel skill - lame.

What is it like to fight those huge sauropod type creatures in the free area? They look awesome!

Quote: | hm I didn't really use Sentinel at this point because I thought it kinda sucked. The first battle I tried it out I nearly died. |
It's the part with Mr. Bandana and his hopeful companion - literally 90% of attacks were aimed at him, and my sentinel had to spam Provoke or it was game over. I could see if that was built into the AI like "Targets weakest party member" - but I do not think it was. Or if it was, it still feels pretty damn cheap.

Yeah, the game can be REAL fucking cheap sometimes (I seem to be afflicted with the curse of "Quick! Specifically target the leader! Go Go Go!") but it's still insanely fun. Just a shame it's so linear (and this is painfully linear, I don't care what anyone says) as the game itself is thoroughly enjoyable but could do with a bit more control.
Really, it's like; 10 steps, cutscene! 10 more steps, scripted fight! 10 more steps, another scripted fight! 10 more steps, cutscene! 10 more steps, end of chapter cutscene! Seriously, I'm on chapter 6 already and only 12hrs in. What's the deal with that? Either the remaining 7 chapters are 30-40hrs long in total, or this is EASILY the shortest FF title in the series
Oh and I just had a boss battle with an Ochu-looking motherfucker. That was EPIC. The longest boss battle yet and it was GREAT FUN!
Does anyone else think this game is an amalgamation of almost all the previous series? It's got elements of all of them, mostly FFIX actually, so much so that it sometimes feels like a direct sequel to FFIX (sans furries, of course)
