I'm not really sure what you mean by that...
do you mean it's dated because it's not as simple as other games where all you need is one building and the gathering goes on by itself?
the gathering mechanics is one of the most important aspects of starcraft and allow it to seperate the very very good players from the very very very good players. I wouldn't have it any other way. |
I'm just saying it takes a lot of units to gather crystals and gas, whereas most modern RTS user other mechanics, like holding map points and such for the accumulation of resources. It's definitely Starcraft all the way, but a lot of players say it takes much less micro than the 1st. I wouldn't know, since I'm not real great at these types of games, but it's certainly not revolutionary at all. Blizzard doesn't seem to take any risks, but I can't say that I really blame them for that. Like I said, I'm sure it will sell like crazy and make millions, but it's definitely not next gen.

I just realized they may be doing a Mac BETA also. Will be interested to see how this runs on my OSX / iMac setup.

killing workers / economic harass is a huge (fun) part of sc. taking it out would have made most sc fans upset lol.

even if you have the best micro ever, you still dont have enough to play starcraft. there are so many things you can and have to do at the same time

I'm happy Blizzard didn't change the core game design too much. Unlike C&C4 which seems to have turned into a real noob friendly RTS. I don't really care if it's revolutionary or not so long as it's still fun to play I guess.

Guys, how many AI maps are out there? I have only 2 so I was wondering. Also, where are the sandbox maps (without ai) located?
Thanks.

i guess if you had the patience you could use an mpq editor and dig through the installer tome1.mpq file and look for it.
OR i guess you could just take a screenshot while playing and crop the part you want?

screenshot?
try alt + prtscn (printscreen key) or just printscreen. then open up paint or whatever and paste it. or click edit then paste. you use the crop tool to select the part of the picture you want and then copy that, create a new file and paste it and then you have the part you want to save.
pretty archaic but that's how i do it. probably simpler ways to do it.

I'm liking the beta so far, I'm not too good at SC and the only way I can actually kill the medium Starcrack 6.0 AI is if I rush him with basic units early on and keep killing his resource gatherers while I build up more armies to kill the whole base. If I let the match drag on I get owned. Once I thought I was doing well as terran and got zerged by 10 protoss carriers lmao.

If you want to see some great live streams and commentary, I would suggest tuning into shoutcraft tonight. http://www.vtwproductions.com/home/2010/3/5/emperor-and-totalbiscuit-to-host-shoutcraft.html
Thats right, its esports time! They are two of the best show hosts I know, very well worth a look.
SHOUTcraft’s maiden broadcast will happen on Friday the 12th of March at 23:00 GMT (18:00 EST). Videostreaming will be available on both Cynical Brit and VTWProductions. We hope to see you there.
