I just bought the damn thing and the servers are offline.. FUCK UBISOFT !!! Neon25, you are to blame. Worked just fine... Works fine my ass. Servers down...
Well, this whole business just proved one thing to me. Whereas pirating used to be something few people did back in the golden ages, now, every idiot does it. In fact, these idiot spoiled kids are so used to it, that along comes a game, that's not cracked in a few days, and what do they do?
They attack the developers like angry little virgin teenage boys ... which they are anyway.
There is no morality behind it, there is no philosophy behind it. The whole case is simple: they didn't get it, and they can't handle the fact!
At least be man enough to admit, that you are frustrated as hell. Instead you pretend this is about freedom and privacy .. etc, when it has nothing to do with it. You bring pirates a bad name.
The main issue here isn't that I am not geting my crack or that I am extremly upset because I can't play Ac2 or something.
The problem is that if this proves to be a success more and more companies would adopt this type of drm.
The result will be a place where all the games are
-More expensive games as the drm servers costs extra to maintain
-Have features removed (No LAN play -> See Ea Games C&C4)
-Be able to take info from your pc "See, Ubisofts licence and agreement, where you're agreeing that with their new drm they can colect info about your behaviour to further their products)
-Be unable to play without an internet connection (Lan parties, Laptop, at work etc)
-If you have a day without internet (can happen due to various reasons) you will not be able to play ANYTHING.
If you would like all of the above then sure suport this drm. Personaly I will not buy any more ubi games untill they remove this protection
@masca
I find it ironic that yesterday you were doing your best to bring the servers down, and now you complain that they are down
@veemon
Everything you listed is inevitable in my opinion. Moving to a more centralised, controlled and networked environment is something all publishers are moving to in small steps. Except Ubi took a huge one instead.
the servers are getting DDoS'ed again, lol this is hilarious, Ubi is gonna have no choice but to remove the games DRM. If i bought it I woulld be fucking well annoyed.
good job i wouldnt let this draconian piece of DRM shit anywhere near my machine.
regardless how small the steps are, some gamers will allways say no.
A single player game thats 10 euros more expensive then all the other games and requires a constant connection to the internet is not acceptable by any means
Removing DRM because of the attacks would be unwise of them. It is like giving in to terrorists demands...a slippery slope
In any case, game works fine for me...for now.
If this DRM will get cracked, but Ubi wont remove the DRM, they will actually increase piracy because those who are willing to pay for a game arent gonna buy it, because this SHIT doesn't work.
They give terrorists their demands. And after that they shoot them.
I wasn't trying to bring their servers down by any cost, lol, I'm no script kiddie. But they kinda deserve it. But with this lack of games, I found myself compelled to buy AC.
I'm a pirate, but not a hardcore one. I just pirate to see the game and if I like it, I buy it. I have all Ubisoft's AC, POP and SC titles.

Just try and convince me here please.
Why do you think they deserve it? Give me a few arguments.

I bought the game because I am bored. Nothing to play, not because Ubisoft deserves it.

they will not have any choice, this is possibly the worst release of a game since I can remember and I'm nearly 30.
This HAS to be breaking the consumer act, someone needs to look into it.

As I said before, I don't think the number of users who can't connect is actually as large as some make it out to be. And if anything, the fact that attacks cause this only gives them an excuse, if they'd screw up on their own it would be another matter..
I love all the people coming to UBIs defense because they couldn't pirate a game for a few days and caved in and bought it.
I kicked those idiots who are spamming this thread with their cool stories to my ignore list.
It's funny how those guys showed/registered just for this thread... ok, it's more annoying than funny. I mean it's nothing new, we've seen this shit countless times. But those guys are giving me the creeps with their babble.

If they would screw it on their own they would still blame it on atacks are you that gollable?
Imagine you're the pr spokesman for ubisoft. Say the company is implementing a new system that would have players contecting on the internet to play games.
Now say every one would tell you its a bad ideea.
Youd say nah nah its gonna be fine.
Alright. Now say you started the system and sudently it fails because of internal reasons. Do you
a) Admit it.
b) Say nothing
c) blame it on the pirates.
