Nice, ist there a chance that you get the old stuff for dow2 working too? Would be awesome Very Happy

Yes, that should also be unlocked. Smile Start a new DoW2 campaign and see if you have a lot of stuff there.

Works like a charm. Huuuuuge thanks iNatan, huge thanks Very Happy
I'm still curious if those Librarian Wargear is all that came with Chaos Rising. The Free Wargear is 2,25MBs and I don't think it was inside the files already.

I'm running Vista 64 with 6GB of RAM. I run it just fine on everything ultra/highest.

Edit: Guess I read that wrong. Nevermind.

Thanks for the wargear pack info Razz

Anyway about the ultra settings. Yeah im running 32 bits as well but there is no problem using them.

Just add –disable32bitcheck in rev.ini after ProcName=dow2.exe (or use it on a retail shortcut)

If this is not enough and can't select ultra ingame - try editing the configuration.lua (My Documents\My Games\Dawn of War 2\Settings for XP) I've set"texturedetail" to 3 and it's working.

i just beaten this game. it took around 6 hours. what can i say? the graphic is nice (maxed out all settings with my dx11 5770 card). the dang game hung after you beat the last boss. Evil or Very Mad

anyway, doesn't look like there's a lot to do after you beat the campaign. rather disappointing if you don't play/not interested in the mp part of the game. Crying or Very sad

next up conquest of napoleon total war! i really don't like the total war series or gameplay but i'll force myself to play it anyway (or is that anywar?).

Isn't the game DX9 only?
(DX10 being used in Company of Heroes however.)

wrong, Dawn of war 2 uses dx10 effects in ultra high mode. Thats the whole point of it.

Running it under Ultra here, was certain FRAPS showed it under DX9 mode, might have been wrong though.
(Uses a black border around the FPS counter when in DX10 or higher.)

I can't find a definitive answer to this, some places say it uses DX10, others say it doesn't.

I just tried crashing it with an empty file named D3D10.dll and it ran fine, so it isn't using DX10, but I do have the Ultra settings.

The Essence Engine features many new graphical effects, including High Dynamic Range Lighting, dynamic lighting & shadows, advanced shader effects and normal mapping. The Essence Engine is also one of the first RTS engines to create detailed faces with facial animations.

In Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts the Essence Engine was further improved to include weather effects and also added support for DirectX 10 for Windows Vista.

The recently released sequel to Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, Dawn of War II, is using an updated version of Essence Engine (Essence 2.0) which allows for more detailed models and textures, and more advanced lighting and shading effects, as well as including more complex "sync-kills" than those in Dawn of War and supporting dual core CPUs.

I see no mention of DoW2 having DX10 support. Embarassed

It's not an XP check, it's 32-bit check, which can be disabled by the "-disable32bitcheck" parameter. On the other hand, there is no "-disabledx10check". And like I said, it isn't using d3d10.dll. Smile

I'm quite sure they added DX10 to Essense 1.0 after they were done with DoW2 and Essence 2.

Anyways, even if the engine supports DX10, the game doesn't.

There is no dx10 mode for Dow 2. End of the discussion.. Ultra settings are just hidden for non 64 bits systems because of the limitation of ram allocations of 32 bits. I play on ultra just fine with my 2 gb ram on x86 system with the -disable32...

Anyway i've beated the whole campaign in a co op with a friend in a day. Quite disappointing how short it was. (we played on the difficulty next to primarch). The corruption mechanic was fun.. too fun actually. We deliberately avoided any redemption and even helped the enemy when needed - to get more corruption (slaughtering our own scouts with explosives or - on the last mission - mass murdering marines with friendly fire Very Happy )

p.s the fat guy took us 100 minutes Smile

Unfortunately... maxed corruption.. but.. meh , nothing more :[

Anyway it was fun... and now im playing Chaos in multiplayer. Those guys are quite awseome. Heretics are very strong antiall unit Smile
