You can set that ingame in DX11 options.
I tried to like it but I found it to be too much of a rail shooter for my tastes, always just one way to go and never feeling as if I wanted to do what I had to do.
I like the more open nature of stalker a lot more.

Using razor release completely, and the game still crashes after the intro logo. Proper my ass...

There was only one 'vcredist_x86.exe' file in the redist folder, installed it just in case, no change.

EDIT: noticed the missing installers in the instelled game folder. I'll try those.

goddamn thank you for that.

i installed physx from the game folder(rzr) and got past the intro logo.. hopefully it's smooth sailing from here.

Why are some people and reviewers complaining about the shooting elements? Sure it's not CoD with endless of amunition everywhere and swarms of enemies to kill every second, imo that's a HUGE plus because that kind of gameplay bores me to tears.. It's like a scripted STALKER with a bit of Thief thrown in.. Not as good as STALKER of course, but a must play nonethess. Extremely atmospheric and awesome attention to detail. Looks great on "High" settings.

I kinda assumed it will be like that after seeing trailers Sad Is there any "free roam" at all in the game ?

Cause i run this on 1440x900 and it's streched.

it runs fine here on high @ 1920x1080, that on XP though so no DX10 or such.
Max settings is playable too, but it tends to get on its knees now and than.
Tweaking the cfg would be good, but i dint bother (yet) fiddling with it,
as it looks good @ high Smile

Textures are top notch

game runs bad on 'very high' and good on 'high'. obviously there's a bastard setting that drags performance so much in 'very high' but since the game only lets choose presets there's no way to know what it is. great thinking devs. horrible fov too.

Managed to get the Razor version working by reinstalling PhysX again. Interestingly enough, No AA option now changed to AAA in game. It appears that using Skidrow without that one file limits some options.

Well, i personally think the game's bad. But, if you liked Stalker, you probably're gonna like this one too. I didn't like the feeling of the gunfight and in a linear shooter that's a huge minus. Sometimes you can shoot 12 times with a shotgun from 1 metre at 1 guy and he stays alive :]
Also, the ingame metrostations look nowhere close to the real ones (At least the first two:VDNH (named Exhibition ingame) and Rijskaya(named Riga ingame), characters drink as if they're alcoholics, they sing those songs that only russian bandits listened to in the early 90's, etc.
Also 1680x1050 and 1440x900 users get 4:3 aspect streched, looks awful.

I suppose their hyped choices/consequences system that allows you to have a profound impact on the game either isn't there or it's toned down?

Also, some other questions:
- how's interaction with NPCs? Is it meaningful with multiple choices?
- they also said that NPCs would lead their own lives regardless of the player. Is there really some kind of schedule or are there just scripted scenes?
- how are the hubs? Small and linear or quite open?
- some people talked about sidequests. How are they? Just go and fetch or something more elaborate?
- I heard talking about minigames. Are they invasive and/or dumb as hell?

I chose the hardcore difficulty mode. Can i switch it back to the easier ones during in-game, in case i got stuck in intense shooting sequences or boss fights if any that are too troublesome to overpass?

E8500@3.9ghz, GTX 260 and 4gb ram; it runs pretty bad on fights at very high as other people have stated (it drops down to 17-20 FPS) while it averages 35 fps with peaks as high as 50fps when running it on high. Using AAA and 1680res.

To those who don't like the horrible FOV, which is actually 45.

Go to the user.cfg file located at X:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033

Edit it, and find the value called: sick_fov 45.
and change it to sick_fov 90.
(yes, with the period at the end of the number)
Naturally, you can change it to 75 as well, but assuming you're not MW2 kids, you will like it at 90.

You can also edit gfx settings one by one here.

Ehh, crashing at startup.

Edit: Got it starting by installing PhysX. Another problem now. I can't select either DX10 or 11. I have a 5870, so it should work just fine.

Vista. I run BC2 in DX11 no problem, but not this for some reason.

Also, can't really run it at Very High on my 5870. Quite disappointing really.

Edit: Oh, and what's up with not being able to alt-tab? Every time I try to maximize the game again, the screen is just black while the game itself works.

Yeah, that sucks. And the windowed mode doesn't work properly... at least for me. I can't see the window on the default position, and I can't move it Razz
