That is the version that's included in skidrow release. I assume it was on the game dvd.

Little hint by me (Razor1911 Version related): Did anyone of you looked into the install directory? Seems not... x:\xxx\METRO 2033\install
Inside is everything you need. And this new PhysX too.
It's the same with AvP, DoW2 CR and so on. All those razor cracked steam games got a folder like this one in it.

What do I do now? |
When I tried to install DX11 from the Metro 2033 install folder, it said I already had DX11 and quit out of the installation. I just went to M$ website and grabbed their latest installer, which fixed the issue for me.

Directx is included in the install folder, no need to download from M$.

After installing the Skidrow release, I was given the option to install all the directx, physx, and VC++ packages. I checked all the boxes and they installed automatically. Does the Razor release not do this?

no, the (made by razor) installer tells you to look in the game dir (and gives a list) to install those things manually.

You might want to rethink that.
Metro 2033 can't really be put in the same free roaming, sandbox gameplay category that Stalker is. If you are going to exclude the post-apocalyptic setting, the anomalies and the radioation you will be left with a shooter on-rail, more a la Condemned (Criminal Origins), BioShock or even FEAR, when it comes to gameplay style (yes, with LESS frantic action).
Overall a good game, IMO, putting aside the high sys. req. (for me), I'd say it deserves a healthy 8/10. But if I'd choose a winner game with the same theme, I'd be surely go for Stalker SHOC. But that's probably bc. I prefer open-ended gameplay and free roaming.
And yes, ofc it's subjective.
EDIT
In reply to game performance, on my 9800GTX+ with an AM2 @ 3GHZ dual core CPU on HIGH setting (dx9.0) the game runs so-so and definitely NOT very good. So yes, it's demanding and it quite figures, seeing the tons of gfx options.
But problem is, with all the gfx bells and whistles, it isn't all THAT impressive. It just looks nice and... that's all. The mood is created mostly by sound, shapes (props), lighting and mostly chromatic.

So ur saying stalker is better optimized? I remember the first and second one having big issues with DX9/10 rendering and all the bells and whistles this has.
Im running this on 1280x1024 with everything maxed out except for 4xmsaa -> AAA on a Phenom² 955 BE with HD4890 Vapor-x and its running more smooth then stalker ran before of my systems.
On the gameplay comment, ok i agree that u cant really compare this to stalker sandbox/freedom wise, but themewise stalker is just rinse and repeat. Even tho its playing in the present (well past now but when it came out present) this game is set into future and thus makes abit more sense (not saying shit like this will happen but u never know can u ) The downside from stalker aswell is that it kinda feels stiff, it just doesnt feel natural and in touch with its surroundings/physics.
But hey, everyone their own opinion about things. But mine stays with Metro2033 > S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (1/2/3) in every way.

Does the
g_god on/off
g_unlimitedammo on/off
Works to someone ? ( I edited just the .cfg from the main game folder, but doesn't work in game )
Also changing FOW from the Users/(user)/etc... Crash the game for me, works till i select Continue >_>

Yes they work but you need to add to to the user.cfg which is in this dir. [my documents\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033]. By default there are no such commands in this file. Just add them(g_god on/ g_unlimitedammo on). About the fov, try changing it to 65.
