As they all use the same stuff once one game falls the rest should follow shortly afterwards. Smile
(Of course I have no idea when this will happen, I'm not a programmer and of course not a cracker or anything so I can't say how it actually works, various suggestions and speculations in the current Ubisoft DRM threads however.)

G2Play now has some cheap keys for Settlers VII, but I don't think there's a clone anywhere... is there?

Disclaimer: Not requesting, a simple yes or no would suffice...

There isn't unless you can register it trough Steam or something and get it that way.
(Or atleast as far as I know there's no release of Settlers 7 but someone could have made a simple disc image as a P2P release though I have not seen anything like that.)

maybe not fake but it's not clonedvd. people are usually confused about what clonedvd actaully is. clonedvd is when disc check protection such securom or safedisk is cloned and can be emulated with programs such as daemon tools.

Well the game itself seems like good old Settlers fun. But as it is using the Ubicrap DRM, i wont even buy a cheap key from G2play.
Im a bit sad, but i wont support such damn protections Sad

Gotta agree i had game preordered ( Settler 1, 2, Anniversary are my favoreds ) but when i found out the details about it's DRM, i canceled my preorder and wont be buying it unless the DRM is replaced or several requirements like staying online to play/save is removed.

tried the demo to this last night.... FPS is not a problem... runs beautifully, well it should on a 5850 right?

Problem is it was like someone took a vat or grease and rubbed it all over the screen, was bloody distracting, outta focus kinda gameplay, infact i didnt play more than 10 minutes because it make my eyes bleed Smile

All details on max, there are two settings for AA and Multisampling which were both ticked, read today that turning those off SHOULD fix the problem, but come on!!! you are saying that was done on purpose? Yeah have AA and multisampling and we'll make the game look like a greasy vat of turd in the process...

Anyone else had this? maybe coz its the demo?*shrugs*

Meantime, grabbed the full iso floating on usenet, just waiting for some sort of crack combo to use it.

You can keep AA active but you have to deactivate MS to get rid of the milk glass look.

A CloneDVD is just that a clone. The image is 1:1 with the original i.e. they are the same. Disc checking solutions usually hide stuff on the disc in a certain way that simply copying the data off the disc won't suffice. Rip any old securom game with Alcohol or something and you'd know this.

Bullshit..

Stop trying to make excuses for supporting this shitty DRM .. (and you are)

I have bought every settlers and silent hunter game in the past.. and i do really want to play the new ones.

But they can get fucked if they think i am buying these with the shitty drm.

Every single one of you who buy these games is saying "Ubisoft we give into you.. let me bend over while you fuck me up the ass"

I dont really give a fuck if ubisoft stop making PC games.. because im not gonna buy them as long as they have this DRM anyways

Well I agree that I am a bit biased as I've sort of come to accept this DRM by now but that is how I see it, of course if the DRM were to fail in some other way aside from piracy like bigger store chains refusing to stock it due to numerous complaints and returns it might result in a different impact, I don't know the sales figures from these titles but I guess all the talk about it has affected them at least somewhat, of course Ubisoft will probably not drop the protection regardless of all of these actions even so.

Somewhat difficult to explain but as I've had no real problems with the system after the initial server downtime I've been more accepting of this DRM and find it quite OK even.
(It's similar to systems like EADM and Steam in a way actually, Steam can be used offline however so it's not the best comparison with it.)

I don't see it as perfect and it's not uncrackable either but it might take a lot of time before that happens, of course Ubisoft themselves could also remove it after a few months but I see it as unlikely that it would happen anytime soon.

I'm with JBeckman on this, including the lack of any real problems with it. I bought it a few days after release and the only issue I had was the demo pausing once for a few seconds due to server timeout.

Besides that, S7 is a damn fine game and actually worth the money you pay for it, even with DRM.
And, tho be honest, there's been worse DRM's. It might be draconic in that it requires a connection but the process is all very smooth and non intrusive if your connection is stable.

If you don't buy the game they scream piracy and think of some new even shittier DRM. If you buy it they stay with the same shitty DRM they've got now.
So gamers lose anyway.
And I really love that fact that publisher's like UBI completely disregard the fact that other companies published games without any bullshit DRM (Dragon Age had only a disc check, right? and look how that sold).

Anyway played the demo for a few minutes and didn't understand jack shit. Then I saw there's not even a realy tutorial but only tutorial videos? wtf? Is it the same in the retail version or are the first couple of missions tutorial like?

The demo was really bad in that regard, the final game has a SP campaign. First 5-6 missions walk you through everything, the choice in the demo was odd but I guess they wanted to show lots of options and couldn't include too many SP missions, so they made that video.

Yup I agree re tutorials reklis. Okay so I played the first game to death (classic) and never really had the time to get into the others, this looks really nicely polished and fun however they dump you in the game and are like go go go

You have doods screaming you dont have this! you dont have that! You have no patience to play this game f00 etc etc

But I dont wanna sit there watching vid tutorials, I wanna do like 5 missions which get you into the swing of basics things, constructions, resources, base defences, attacking etc...

If the main game has that its worth it. I hate playing a game, thinking "yeah Im doing okay" then getting a message on screen saying Bob the AI has conquered this this n this" and looking over n being all WTF! Confusing, brainspan of a fish.... must ease me into the game. Pass Smile

I can't see that happening myself. I mean, if these games with this DRM don't sell as well as expected and even if a lot of people pirate them, I still think Ubisoft will make PC games. The profits from PC games might not always be as high as what they get from the console market but it is still there. It doesn't make sense to me for a company like Ubisoft to not make money from the PC gaming market.

IMO this DRM is unacceptable. They would have been better off working on a more secure disk based protection and maybe even online activation. But this just goes too far Sad

Personally I'd much rather play this
Than Settlers 7, in my opinion they've strayed too far from the original formula, the drm is just the final nail in the coffin.
