Probably not the same system. Sure, same mathematic algorithm to play around with the perspective but the nintendo ds is relying on it's player facing camera. The face recognition tracks the face and twists the perspective accordingly.
The iPhone has no front facing camera, so I assume that it's relying on the gyro sensor. Therefor I think that the results of the NDS one should be more accurate
Wii does it too, although you would look retarded with the sensor bar glued on your forehead.
