eve is just the best but will take anyone a while to get into it proper. . def 4 to 6mnths... to be combat useful at least.(then again if u had fair few starters working together can always win that way in a fight.) or do something more non combat orientated Very Happy and play like that while u do otherthings online as well.. but loooks like u just run 3 mmos at once anyhow lol... nutball Very Happy

WoW until Feb 09. I was even prepared to play through the fact that they simplified the content, but when they nerfed the BG's of both the collected gear and setting a time limit, that was the end for me as I mainly played my twinks.

Blizzard are an incredibly arrogant company and I hope their forthcoming expansion is a disaster.

you cant play mmo's for few hours to get a view on how it will play like for you longterm..

I used to be similiar in that way many moons ago, but to be honest most mmo's are crap at the start one has to invest a bit of time to be able to see the bigger picture later.. Eve is one of them for sure as its much harder to settle into, fallen earth again you need to break the level 12 barrier at least to come into ones own a bit...

world of warcraft is yet a std linear quest grind for sure when u roll a new character and can be very mundane untill you start messing with the gear and dungeons etc.. not to mention plenty of places of nice style gfx areas to expore...

but still investing couple of hours in any mmo is not always a good one to go with for a choice if its anygood or not..

it would have to be real shitty on the mechanics/ui etc etc for me to totaly ignore a mmo in the first couple of hours..

None.

The only true MMORPG I've played was Ultima Online, in a private server some years ago. Gameplay required grinding to the extreme and so I quit pretty fast, today I play online only on NWN servers (pretty awesome if you're able to find the right server and good DMs).

I am also quite fond of MUDs (text-only rpgs), especially because most of the time you get a far more complex gameplay that graphical games could never hope to achieve. Achaea and BatMud in particular are awesome.

I remember when WoW came out, I had purposely avoided most of the previews so I could see it for myself unspoiled. I really liked Warcraft III, so I had this vision in my head of orcs fighting elves and claiming territory in an unending, epic war of constant action.

I was disappointed.

My wife and I played WoW on and off up until the release of that expansion that gave the Horde elves. I quit a week later. If the wife REALLY wants to play it again when the new expansion comes out, I'll probably reactivate for a couple months.

Played Eve for a few months, but the wife hated it. I thought it was interesting.

Battlefield Heroes is about the closest thing to an MMO that I play now, and I only play that a few hours a week. Certainly not every day.
