The 32bit version works fine using the files I have, mate. I've had no issues with either 64 or 32bit yet Smile

Various technical details on Cry Engine 3 for those interested in such things, seems OK albeit console focused which might leave a impact on the PC edition in some ways.

It's hilarious that they call it Cryengine3. It's vastly inferior and obvious downgrade from Cryengine2. Clearly this naming is for marketing purposes, console kiddies will think it's much better than cryengine2 (because it has a 3 at the end zomg), when in reality cryengine3 is just a lite version of cryengine2 for consoles. Guys i bought Powercolor 5870 . And i am absolutely Impressed!!
Now i can play on Enthusiast settings + AA4x with beatiful FPS ( 40 + fps on lvls with large fighting enemies and amount of trees). And 60+ fps without big fight.
I was thinking that 5870 will be not enough to max on this game.
But is enough ! On big levels with maximum enemies i dont have slowdowns.
In mine earlier cards this game on Enthusiast was not playable: 5850 and gtx 280.
But NOW on 5870 is perfect. So difference between 5870 and 5850 is not too small , like most people say. Maybe in some of games like this.

Just curious what the rest of your setup is as I'm currently thinking of putting in a 5870 as well Question

You can overclock 5850 to perform like stock 5870 so...no point in buying 5870 for most people imho...Anyway I see no point in hardcore overclocking 5850/5870 for anyone, both handle all games well, only Crysis and Metro are power hungy or not well optimized. Who would play those two games more than 12hours?

But of course Crysis is a good game to benchmark on.

you can overclock 5870 even more than 5850.. and i doubt you can reach stock 5870 with 5850,

Wow, I think they overused the motion blur and Depth of Field blur in that video. Unless that's a side effect of the video making process... Hell, every time they turned the whole screen turned into a streaky blurry mess. Smile

Just finished this, after having finished Crysis.

Gotta say Warhead was better than Crysis - faster paced and much more action. However, the enemy and specifically the last boss was ALOT easier. People say the aliens are harder in Warhead? I'm not so sure- as you get some crazy ass powerful gun customisations.

Eitherway, if Crysis warhead had been longer, it'd have been 10/10, but because it was short, they both get 9/10.

REALLY excited for Crysis 2 now! Crysis / Warhead were the best action FPS games i've played in a LONG time, probably ever! I'm glad I wait until I had the hardware to run it smoothly at 1080p - it looks AMAZING considering how old it is now!

It may be "old" in age, but the technology and the coding in both games were WAY ahead of their time. Given how good it still looks today, you could easily consider it a "recent" game =)

According to CryTek promotional videos of CryEngine 3, all the features found in Crysis (read: since 2006 at least) are "next-gen console ready". Laughing

Which is why I was so "lol wut" yesterday in the Battlefield 3 thread. "The gap between PC and console hardware is narrowing, but PCs still have the memory advantage"

.......Yeah.

Facts are facts, and then there are the religious like beliefs of console gamers that would strongly and angrily deny such facts. Laughing

After finishing MGS4 for PS3 earlier this year, I complained about the shitty frame rate on a forum. I was then accused of having a PS3 that had "worse graphics" than his PS3 because apparently MGS4 runs "smooth" on all other PS3s besides the one I had Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

N-n-n-n-n-n-necro! Surprised

What the hell, 32-bit exe gives me a black screen and the 64-bit exe doesn't seem to work with the steam overlay (so no soshul "look at me, I'm playing crysis warhead!1" for toni Sad). This is with the steam version.

Anyway, any remarkable mods for this and for the original? I had forgotten how much I enjoyed these beyond the graphics, and searching on moddb seems to turn up some meh mods mostly (the stargate and avatar ones).

Warhead had encrypted pak files while Wars could be modded so Warhead didn't receive that much modding compared to the original Crysis and I don't think Wars was modded much either though there's some few mods available for both.
(CryDev which was formerly CryMod might still have the files but I believe a lot of it has also been lost.)

I dont think there were any mods for Warhead unfortunately, but you can tweak some things in the console which make the game look a little better. Also you can still customise the nanosuit so speed and strength actually become useful.

@Toni:
When I reinstalled the first Crysis a couple of years ago, I used this compilation for the eye candy:

- Reygel Texture Pack
- Customizable nanosuit
- Silent's High Rez foliage
- Silent's Hi resolution Grass
- Palm Tree texture
- Xzero's Water Shaders
- Global Ambient Lighting/POM AF fix by Xzero
- Xtreme Particle Effects

(You can find all of them here: http://www.cryengine.com/community/downloads.php?cat=52 , it's badly organized, but just use the search function)
I didn't touch the gameplay because it was still more than okay, but this one could be interesting too for the better AI: http://www.moddb.com/mods/tactical-expansion-mod

edit: Didn't really like those complete all-inclusive mods like Maldo's and similar with vibrance and overdone Durr of Field, for me the original -slightly modded- lighting is still better than most of those attempts.
As for Warhead, what JB said Sad
