I love scene technical talk, it's like moonspeak to me. Anyway, good news, fuck Ubi and all that stuff.

Yep, but this is true also about those that purchased Silent Hunter, would you not agreed?

Is the freezing issue widespread? Or is it working fine for most people?

Good on em if they have really managed to crack it without values.db. that'll mean the floodgates opening on this type of protection as this was the most difficult implementation of it so far.

its strange though...cuz talking with ppl who have some idea on how the drm works they said that there is no downloading of files when connecting to server...actually all the needed files are located in game release and the only thing the connection does is to auth the user so it can read the hidden files...dunno myself sounds simple but its definetly not:)
p.s. btw the crack works ok then? nice...will try it in the afternoon when i get home...good job...rzr & rld are i guess the best groups out there...skidrow is trying but this stealing sh*t aint good...anyways...

It is probably the method that the DRM was integrated. Perhaps the developer did a poor job here and only had simple checks, as opposed to taking the returned values and actually using them. This game wasn't developed by Ubisoft, so that probably explains it.

As I understand it, instead of collecting all the server responses manually they reverse engeniered the algorithms that generate the responses, so the exe can generate the data by itself, and doesn't need a value database.
Which is the correct approach for this kind of problem, because if the statements in the nfo are true, AC2 could be emulated as it was only because the challenge/responses were static (never changed) while here the response is some kind of calculation based on data sent by the client, which may differ from client to client, probably depending on the in-game situation.
At any rate, good job RZR!

What the hell is the 10 minute freezing? this isn't a problem in the legit game so obviously it is something razor did and can't fix. There is not one thread on the ubi forums that says anything about the game freezing every 10 minutes.

Yes i think like you. They found a way to remove protection code and actually don't need to emulate anything or collecting values. In one word they can make 100% working crack without finishing the game.Or maybe im wrong..

Considering how long it took them, perhaps the values approach is better for games like Conviction, where in 10 hours you can finish all the game modes.
