I have similar question. Atm i have installed rld version of GTA4 ( with latest patch ) and i downloaded rld version of EFLC. Should i deinstall GTA4 first or will EFLC recognize it and install just EFLC on top of already installed GTA4 ?
Little question for the experienced guys and legit owners of just (and only) original bought GTAIV (not the EFLC) Retail DVD Version.
Like I said, I've bought GTAIV and what I want to know is... is there a way to install the (not so legit) Episodes (from RELOADED) without any harm for my legit GTA4? And am I able to play the Episodes online too? If so, what do I have to do exactly? (I've got a bunch unused GFWL Keys. Just in case )

They're separate games. So no need to uninstall GTA4.
I have them both running side by side.
Fuck! I formatted my hard drive and lost my GTA IV + Lost and damned saves! What a gay place for rockstar to store them! (C:\Users\(USER)\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games)
Can anyone upload his save game for gta iv and lost and the damned? I already beat both and wanna be able to free roam without having to finish them again.

99% of modern config/saves are there
live saves are fixed not only to the account, but to the specific installation, so normally if you format and want to continue your game you're fucked
you can skip this with xliveless though
but getting saves to work on the new actual live installation, you need to do some hex editing

Because in the original GTA4 affter I reinstalled I had to patch the fucking save I had backuped to match my old offline account, or I would get "corrupted save"
Is anyone else completely frustrated with using the kb/mouse while attempting to fly a helicopter?

Actually I set my keys to work perfectly with the kb/mouse. I control the chopper with the w, a, s, d keys, fly up with the left shift key, fly down with the left control key and finally I turn in place left and right with q and e respectively.

What are you talking about? All my "modern saves" are saved either in the user/saved games or user/documents. GTA is the only game that save the saves in some obscure appdata folder.
So basically, once someone formats, even if he backed up, there's no way to use the saves?

You need to use XLive in order to restore your saves if you originally saved them using the online account. I have a legit key and my saves were done in my online account (AKA in that special obscure folder)..But, even if you move the folder or try to load it from the online account after formatting, it wont work. You must use XLIVE method- thus killing your online account. GTA really screws you over on this one. So now Im forced to play GTA4 offline in order to continue using my saves. Cant go online anymore.

I will give that a shot. Right now, it's as effective as a palsy victim performing brain surgery with a crowbar.

Running GTA4 with everything on high settings, res @ 1680x1050, and all the detail sliders are in the 95's. Performance is pretty solid, small slowdowns here and there when lots of action is happening, and I'm getting many ugly pop-ins

You got only HIGH or some of detail are VERY HIGH ?
I using : HIGH and Very High or Highest ( when is possible ) , sliders to near 40% , 1440x900
and game is stuttering when are day in game , and frames sometimes is dropping down to near 30 fps.........hmm i looking your video and in your pc is fastest than mine...or maybe i am wrong
Or maybe i must use only all HIGH details ? ( not higher ) but answer me what details you are using.

Well, think of it this way, if people with "the most powerful computers ever" are getting slowdown, you can bet your ass your going to get some as well with your specs.
About 6 months ago, I had a PC almost exactly like yours, and was also getting butt raped by graphics settings even @ low/medium.

I'm pretty sure about that. But I want to know at what settings the people with the C2Ds are running the game.
I hope someone can help me. My problem is that i'm getting black screens in the game, but only if i'm under a mission. When these black screens occur, i can still move, i can see the minimap, and i can use my phone. Sometimes it gets back to normal randomly. If i alt+tab out, then back to game, it gets fixed for a couple of seconds, but gets screwed again and again. This only happens after accepting a mission at any of my workgiver, and get arrived to the destination place. Although my machine is a piece of shit, i didn't have any problems running gta4, and i'm getting these black screens since the last 3 missions of the lost and damned, and in gay tony all the time.
Could someone give me an advice what to do?

Actually, I have a powerful computer and I did get slowdowns until I completely disabled shadows and now it runs as smooth as San Andreas did. I put everything on very high with definition on, and as long as I keep the shadows off I get no stuttering or slowdowns (and tbh I don't even miss the shadows - when they were on I got some annoying flickerings along with the slowdowns).

Nope, I'm afraid that only disabling shadows completely solves this.
