finished the game today. for me it's 9.5/10

it was filled with awesome. presentation and immersion was mentioned many times already and for a good reason: it's incredible!

gameplay feels spot on. i never played a game where using flashlight felt so fluid and satisfying. flashbangs, flares in other games are trivial, but in this game they are weapons of mass destruction. controls are really well done.

story is mysterious, intriguing and delivers till the end. audio and music selection of course is top notch.

visuals are great for the most part. during the day and inside buildings especially it might look a bit dated. but this isn't a corridor shooter and how the game looks at night more than makes up for a few low res textures inside buildings. levels are HUGE, use of light is sick. when you play on a level for an hour or two you can usually get on some higher spot and see path in the distance you traveled. it really adds to the grand scale feel.

it would be 9/10 but i give extra 0.5 because as a fan of davil lynch and stephen king work this game was nerdgasmic experience Very Happy

solid game. don´t get the complaints.

one complaint would be the camera focus. it doesn´t aim quite right.

I agree, the camera is the main reason I have died while playing. Im only on chapter 4 so far, playing on hard. Did any of you guys play on nightmare?

Nightmare isn't available at the start. Wish I had started on normal instead of hard, as dying to mobs crowding you out in kind of stupid and lame; although not as lame as Wake awkwardly platforming and then falling off the side of the cliff.

The game isn't "bad", but the cheese-ball factor - if it isn't readily apparent to someone - is going to be a turn off (GameTrailer knocked its story and acting for this exact reason).

We all have to agree on something... This game does not fulfill the very high expectations that we all had.

It´s hard to find something that is specially remarkable. The best part is the ambience no doubt.

And the ideas are way too similar to twin peaks, little originality.

I didn't have high expectations. I expected a game similar to Max Payne in structure (linear) and gameplay (satisfying but no revolution) and got what I wanted. A lot of people took a ride on the hype train and now it crashed hard, happens all the time. I am amazed how many people expected Remedy to take a 180° turn and develop "Grand Theft Auto: Bright Falls".

People didn´t think that from nothing.

They promoted the game that way...

And always talked about how revolutionary it would be.

And yeah, it´s always best not to have big expectations, it´s harder to being let down.

I think the same. The car sequences that are left are the weakest part of the game. I think that Remedy tried some experiments with sandbox levels but found out that they were boring and canned the concept. Just imagine the whole game was as dull as these sequences...
Streamlining it to a linear but well crafted experience was the right choice IMO. We have enough mediocre GTA wannabes.

Feel free to flame me if you would rather prefer it to be like Crysis Razz

took me somewhere between 10-12 too (on normal difficulty). Some people just run through games it seems. I stopped to watch tv, listen to the radio, look at the scenery, find manuscripts/coffee thermoses, kill all the bad guys instead of running into the light and moving on, etc.... you know, actually taking the time to enjoy it.

I just can't get this game to play. I burned it three times already. I tried to patch it to wave 3 too and it didn't work. Also flashed to the latest LT1.1and using Verbatim. Maybe it is a burner issue since Lost Planet 2 doesn't work also.

Yup, me too. I just finished Episode 4 (from 6), and I'd say each Episode takes me about 2 hours roughly. I always check the woods for secrets, but not every last corner. But if you don't just run from checkpoint to checkpoint 6 hours it takes way longer than 6 hours...

The "platforming" in this game is so beyond bad. It's a "good" game, that is really hampered by lame ass gameplay mechanics. I really wish they had done this as a straight horror game, instead of some cheesy sendup of Dean Koontz and Stephen King novels.
