I've died from Alan trying to jump from one spot to another, and - because the controls are pretty imprecise in this regards - falling off the side of the damn platform.
Which is to say nothing of dying from enemies pulling up from behind me, and those stupid ass auto-aim sickles and axes.

I have a weird problem with my jtaged console and this game. My profile loads up fine displaying all my played games and gamerscore etc..
Then once i've clicked on Alan wake via the freestyle dash to play the game, it loads up fine. Then once in game i click the guide button to view achivements and it display's '0g' it shows nothing of my profile, not even my avatar...?
I'm still logged in as it has my tag down the side, but no details.
I don't think i'm even getting achivements for the game, i've just finised the opening episode and nothing popped up?
Any ideas guys?

Man this game gets better and better!
I just started episode 5. And the big farm with all the fights in episode 4 was so coo, especially on the stage with the musicl! Generally i much like the music that gets played when you finish an episode. Gonna search for the OST now if there is one.
But the fear factor is gone after the first hours. Now you just get too many weak enemies thrown at you.
Still sad that it won't come to PC (yet?). The graphic details are just awesome in this game and it would probably look much sharper if properly ported on the PC.

No game, despite what they say to the contrary is safe to play on a modified XBOX360; it's not a matter of if, just when. You can only extend the time to a banning - not got out of it.

Just to be safe I'll wait until the release date!

Well, I played an episode a day and finally beat this over the weekend. I must say that I enjoyed it, enjoyed it enough to actually beat the game.
By the time I got to episode 5 though, my interest in the game and story slowly started to diminish. Instead of checking every corner for clues and hidden messages I found myself just trying to rush to the end and beat the game.
I dunno, game was good, my initial thoughts were "WOW, COOL, AWESOME", but by the time I was close to beating the game I wasn't as drawn to it.
As for the ending, I did not understand what the fuck was happening. I read that this isnt the official ending to the game however, and that later DLC episodes would conclude this... kinda stupid if you ask me.
Either way, my pre-order is still on its way...

Isn't there a "real" ending, as well as some more manuscript pages, on the nightmare difficulty? As with all Remedy games.

I am in doubt of which difficulty setting to use. I'd like to see the story played out, but I'm not into repetitive action. Easy or medium?

One question: Does this game get any better after the first episode? I managed to force myself to play the first chapter and just can't go on :< ...

Chapters 2 -5 are the atmospheric highlights of the game. If you still don't like it after the second episode you can leave it, but don't ditch it before.

Videogames are supposed to be entertainment. If the first chapter doesn't grab you, the developer's doing something wrong. From the reactions on this board, I can imagine releasing a demo for this game would only hurt sales.

You haven't been playing games for very long, have you?
Things like this always happen; not everyone's going to enjoy The Witcher or GTA or Max Payne, but that doesn't mean they're bad games.
A lot of people bitched about Darksiders, especially after the demo, even though the game's very good.

Depending on what segment they choose, a demo might drum up interest like Heavy Rain. The biggest problem to me was the repetitive gameplay, and the nonsensical ending that just comes out of nowhere. I think:
Spoiler: | Alan sacrificed his freedom to "write" happiness for Bright Falls, which is why we get a glimpse of him looking over the shoulder of Rose - unless of course Rose has been taken over by Barbara Jagger. The little "Alan Wakes journey through the night. . ." bullshit was what really ticked me off. Had I been a paying customer, I would be even MORE upset. |

Spoiler: | so what about Mr.Scratch, Alan Wakes double written by Tomas Zane ?? if you ask me, the ending is clear, Rose took over the Crazy Light lady (in 70's the crazy lamp lady was like rose a big fan of Zane) and Alan is now the new face of darkness, the only shocking thing was "The lake is not a lake but a ocean ..." meaning they are more regions with demonic water |
