As i ordered my copy yesterday. |
I've played for about three hours.
OK, honestly this works better than GTA4 IMO. Wild West just looks more interesting than Manhattan. Just personal opinion.
The character animation is staggeringly good, Lot's of really amusing slight detail. You will not get board of the story, it's epic.
The environments are generally very good, good streaming, incidental detail all over the place, with a game of this visual fidelity it's easy to take the small details for granted.
Game-play is generally good, but there's the occasional nag, as you would expect with environments that are pretty complex.
Audio is very good, and generally enhances the whole feel atmosphere of the game.
It's every bit as convincing as Sergio Leone's 'Once Upon a Time in the West.
PS, love the train models and stations, there awesome.

Reward from getting the top rank survivalist:
Spoiler: | Congratulations. You are now a Legendary Survivalist. You are now able to distil tonic when harvesting herbs. |
also a tip:
Spoiler: | Read the newspapers! Mainly the small column on the far right. I saw a small advert for a gun being sold in a town in mexico so I went to buy it. It's fast, powerful and I got an achievement for buying a rare weapon.
I also found an article stating that the pawn shop at thieves landing will pay the most for animal fur/pelts |

its like 'GUN' in HD http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/objects/758/758695.html
loved Gun but its world was so small and you could finish it in 7h , here i think they have like 82 missions (have 31% complete after 22 missions , 9 odd side-quests, 7 bounty hunter missions, 12 night watch missions ,playtime 10h 22m ) and this game is more fun

If those are true, awesome will have a look at that.
thanks to TB for giving me a hint how to get those damn cougars
Right now I'm looking for racoons. Found the foxes (somewhere south-eastish of Armadillo) and the skunks (pretty much dead set at Rio del Toro).
btw.
those treasure hunting thingies really make my head hurt sometimes.
So I'm at Rank 6 now.
Spoiler: | the last one was the treasure at Rio Del Toro. Now the map shows a rock formation between cacti but absolutely no other clues. The others at least gave you a hint in which region you had to look. Since it doesn't say anything I suppose it's somewher around Rio Del Toro? |

if you buy a horse and it gets lost/killed - when you whistle do you get it back again, or just some basic one again like you start with?

You can buy a 'deed' for it in the general store. You only have to buy it once. Then if your horse gets killed you can use the deed a few minutes later and then whistle for it again.

Still looking for an easy place to hunt raccoon's.
And treasure rank 6 still kills my head. In what freaking region is that one?
Rio Del Toro?
edit:
I sort of just got into Mexico.
Been wondering because the Hungarian Halfbreed and the American Standarbreed are still "Not Available" at the shop.
So I suppose I gotta tame them first but where are they?
I guess they're in West Elizabeth? Or can I find them in New Austin already?

Raccons can be found in a lot of places during nighttime. Personally I was hunting them at Mescalero.

I found the racoon's above the farm where the first missions are (something stead?) and they are out at night time.
I'm also stuck on treasure hunter rank 6 =(

I thought I was smart thinking that the Rank 6 treasure
Spoiler: | Is somewhere along the northern edge of Mexico. In the western part because only there are the cacti. But so far no luck :/
Gonna keep searching. |
Turns out that idea wasn't all that bad.
Some more hints
Spoiler: | Take a look at the treasure map, the rock formation looks really special, doesn't it?
Now think big. |
And for those who want the exact location:
Spoiler: | In Punta Orgullo there's a point called crooked toes. West of the road there are the two rock formations |
Now all I have to do is figure out how to actually get to the treasure O.o

Supposedly two less than GTAIV but they are quite a bit longer.
If you do all the side missions 150+ hours.
btw: anyone mastered sliding off your horse in mid-gallop, it's hilarious learning and looks SO cool!
ps: Free Co-Op missions in June.

I'm gonna go find it now.
I've spent ~16 hours on it (60% completed) and I decided i'd take a break from it so I haven't played it for a few hours
