I started doing the challenges but stopped when they got too boring (I'm one of the few people who hate World of Warcraft, these challenges seemed like a cheap grind). |
What difficulty did you choose on RDR out of interest? |
Normal. I don't think that higher difficulties will add more content though.
EDIT: You say that after 15 hours you're still in the first section on the map? What have you been doing all the time apart from missions, stanger-quests and challenges? How much passed time does your stats menu count?

got my ps3 copy today, looks like some ps3 exclusive content is on it, kewl. Too bad ill miss out on those awesome playing cards though.
*edit*
alright, so I've played both console versions on RDR. I don't know if it's just me but when I play on the PS3 the game seems to get low FPS slowdowns and anti-aliasing seems worse as well... i dont remember noticing any slowdown on the 360 or as many jaggies anyway...
Going to have a closer look later, I even read somewhere that they were both identical...
Anyone else try both console versions? Twobells?

I used my bandanna to avoid negative honor, then used a pardon for the bounties.. Could also avoid a bounty by going to that lawless town (name escapes me atm) in the east.

Question:
Is there any difference (safety wise) to playing the P2P release over the scene release? Should I redownload the scene release or just keep the p2p one?

I'll check, basically I've been doing the same stuff as you I expect, however I do tend to spend time just exploring it's world.
Bet that's what you'll do now you've finished.
edit; I must admit I am falling back in love with my 360 since RDR came out but then again it's the GOTY of 2010 while Demon's Souls was GOTY 2009
Yeah it's still early in the year but I just cannot see any other game outing RDR for GOTY.
Maybe Mario as an outsider but I doubt it when compared amongst grown up consoles.

I am curious too as to what the issues are with either version.
I have both a PS3 and Xbox and want this game, but I want to get it on the system it plays better on.
So could you keep me updated too please on it.
Cheers.

does anyone know when Tall Trees opens up?, I wanted to do challenges and keep my story missions, but now the survivalist challenge tells me i have to go to tall trees, so when does it open up, or whose missions open it up specifically?

Just like GTA4, this runs at a lower resolution on the PS3 than on the 360.

Really?
I thought the ps3 was the more powerful overall console of the 2?

RED DEAD REDEMPTION PS3 REVIEW
score: 9.8
XBOX 360: 9.0 GRAPHICS
PS3: 9.5 GRAPHICS
NO GRAPHICAL DOWNGRADING AS SUGGESTED BY SOME SUBSCRIBERS IN FACT THE GRAPHICS ARE CONSIDERED BETTER.

lol, 'it has been claimed' well now we have the review....and here it is:

IGN RATINGS FOR RED DEAD REDEMPTION (PS3)
9.5 Presentation
A powerful story and remarkable characters. Tons of depth, but it doesn't quite have the perfect polish that most Rockstar games exhibit.
9.5 Graphics
A few visual hiccups are the only downside to this incredible looking game. Fantastic art direction.
10 Sound
Superb voice acting and a wonderful soundtrack.
9.5 Gameplay
Great variety, great combat, and a great multiplayer mode.
10 Lasting Appeal
Online or off, there are more than enough excellent reasons to keep coming back.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
IGN RATINGS FOR RED DEAD REDEMPTION (X360)
9.5 Presentation
Menus are thoughtfully integrated into the game's own style, load-times are near non-existent and the HUD is kept beautifully minimal.
9.0 Graphics
Up-close it can be a little rough around the edges, but when it's dealing with the scale that's the game's penchant it's truly breathtaking.
9.5 Sound
Great voice-work is matched by a brilliantly atmospheric bespoke soundtrack that helps bring the West to life.
10 Gameplay
Rockstar's formula has been progressed enough to make this appeal even to non-fans of GTA, and there's an awesome amount of variety on display.
10 Lasting Appeal
The West keeps on giving well beyond the completion of the campaign – unlocking all of its secrets could well be a lifetime's work.
