I can really recommend the X10, Awesome phone!
The only downside is the soft keyboard, but installing the htc keyboard solved that 
Try doing that on an iphone

If you're looking for updated android the desire is your best option, it's running 2.1. Downside to the desire is the smaller screen (3,7 inch) and the 5 mp camera (X10 has got 8.1). I haven't got any regrets for choosing screen real estate and a better camera over android 2.1.

So I got my phone back from service. Turns out they didn't "find" any problems. So I went back and showed them what the problems were. The guy behind the desk said "gee, now I really see a problem" and promised to get to work.
Fuckin incompetent asshole I say...
