People who say that Win7 is faster then XP did the following: Use XP for years, skip Vista because of negative press, install Win7 because of positive press, compare the fresh Win7 install to their old and bloated XP install, realize that the fresh install feels quicker, post on blogs how much better Win7 is then XP.

Fact is that Win7 can't be generally faster then Win7 because it is more "bloated" with features. You might notice performance increases in heavily threaded applications because XP's scheduler wasn't designed for multicore CPUs but that's it.

I skipped Vista and went right to Windows7. So far win7 is as faster or even faster than XP. Even with all its extra features. Maybe because I disabled all unnecessary stuff from starting up each time. Im very pleased with Windows 7 for the most part. Just some minor annoyances, but nothing big.

Vista is faster than XP as well.

If you search on the internet you can find benchmarks that "prove" XP to be faster but you can also find benchmarks that "prove" Win7 to be faster.

From my experience both perform fast enough on the hardware they were made for. Although I feel like Vista performed better on my Core 2 Duo notebook then XP on my Pentium 4 desktop, there is not enough difference to prefer one over the other. just use the newest one since it's the most stable, supported (DX10 - Just Cause 2) and user friendly.

windows 7 is faster, aslong as you run it on proper Hardware. I think same was with Vista, alltho many ran it on not good enough hardware, which then in return slowed the OS down.

If you have the Hardware, W7 sure beats the shit out of xp.

That's exactly the point, no benchmark can be precise. I am speaking on behalf of my experience with XP, Vista and 7 on various machines, including a shit laptop with 1GB RAM. Smile

As I have completed migration from Vista to Win 7, here is a very tiny AAR...

- Much move fluid than Vista SP3
- Boots faster
- Mac OS X Dock like taskbar is much better than taskbar in previous Windows versions, though I still hate that it's impossible to drag & drop documents on pinned apps Sad
- Games runs much more faster, Win 7 gave my GTS 8800 512 a new life Smile

But my most favorite thingy, is that Samba feature to store HFS+ extended attributes as NTFS streams over SMB / CIFS shares works. I couldn't get it to work under vista.

Old myth that isn't true. I'm too lazy to dig up the comparisons but the measured differences were negligible in most cases and Vista were sometimes faster in some tasks.

Win7 is optimized, streamlined and fixed compared to Vista.

When it comes to games it's usually the graphics drivers that affect performance. Other installed applications, services etc. can also affect gaming performance. I haven't used Win7 x86, only x64, so I can't really say if there's a difference in gaming experience, but I've noticed no negative differences between XP and Win7 in regards to gaming (I'm using Radeon though, that may explain it Cool Face). That loader in the sticky can handle it since 1.7.6 or so (I've had it installed since it was leaked, though I opened the scheduler and removed the ping pack schedules it had, should be two of them, mentioned earlier in this thread.) latest version now is 1.8 (rc6 but fully stable, full 1.8 should be out soon it seems, maybe even this week, been using it and it's worked great, simpler to use as well.)

Topic for it (Linked to in that sticky.) also contains instructions on how to go to that website for a re-evaluation and be tagged as legit again. Smile
(Which is basically install loader, install update if it's not already done and then validate again via their website and it'll pass.)

Yep, wondered the same... But I didn't hide it, found it in the list of installed updates. No problems so far, Daz loader keep working just fine Smile

EDIT: JB, thanks for clarification.

About a month ago I changed to Enterprise, but only yesterday did this update appear. I know it's not new, but KB971033 appeared as an update all the same.

I used the old 7Loader with a clean Win7 ISO and had the KB971033 update hidden for a while. Win7 was activated then and recently I wanted to test out KB971033 to see if I should update my loader. Then boom, the update revert my copy back to not genuine, obviously because my loader was old. Fixing it was easy because you can uninstall KB971033. Uninstall your loader, install recent loader with a new key and my copy back to genuine. No need to reinstall Win7.

If you hate it, ignore it.

Uninstall the 1033 update, hide it. If you have MSE, disable real-time scanning. Use the latest loader, 1.8 or 1.8.2 and run it in admin mode. Choose options matching your motherboard or system if possible. Install cert and serial then software activation.

I had problems with Daz loader on both my PC as well. What worked for me is RemoveWAT. It's not the most elegant solution but it works perfectly and i can update with no problems. For more info ,
