You can still get it. Those statistics will remain for the entire game, they don't reset when you start a new game. I've started a new game on Nightmare and they add up.

Okay, so I'm at the power plant level with the chopper above me, it seems as though the developers threw consistency out of the window at this point because the Taken seem to be able to enter the spotlight beam with no detriment to their health. WTF

I just completed it and liked it very much. Perfect weekend game. Didn't rush it or anything and felt like it was long enough. Good job Remedy!

I just started playing this game earlier today and I have to say that I'mreally enjoying it. I can't for the life of me see where the complaints about the graphics come from because it looks great to me. The only bad thing was screen tearing right at the begining for the first few minutes but now it's gone completely.
The atmosphere is great. Very tense at times.

Damnit... Why didn't anyone tell me this game was scary...
Ever since Splatterhouse scarred me for life when I was a kid playing that shit in the basement alone at night, I don't do well with games that try to scare me, haha...
Made it through chapter 1 so far, seems like a really cool game, flashlight looks great! But when the camera zooms out and people start runnin' up behind.. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU

I'm glad I'm finally done with it. It was a mess. It was too easy, annoying, boring, stupid and very often embarrassing. It wasn't exciting or scary at all. Also it wasn't exactly good looking with it's blurry textures and sub-HD resolution.
The only decent chapter was chapter 5. It was the only chapter where you actually had some challenging fights in interesting locations. And the story.... well I'm not entirely sure what really happened, how could I?
My rating is *** / ***** but just barely. I can't believe Remedy abandoned Max Payne for this. |
That's a shame bro.
The story kept it going for me, I was really interested in what was happening. New questions would pop up, and when I thought I had something figured out, a new thing would come along and throw my theory out the door.
I thought the game looked great. I loved the blur effect that would go on when you knew you were about to be in a fight, and the flashlight really looked amazing to me.
I also thought the combat was extremely well done. Very simple, but it worked very well. I liked how they would surround you with enemies, but still give you plenty of tools to escape and win the fight.
I thought the enemies were all satisfying, except maybe the birds, but it felt good to pop a flare on a huge flock and watch them roast.
And I can't really begin to imagine how you could be so in love with Max Payne judging by your shallow grasp of Alan Wake...
Sounds like all you are interested in is a battle. Max Payne certainly doesn't look all that great, and the combat is the same shit over and over -> slow-dive -> shoot -> take cover -> repeat.
See, it sounds retarded when you break it down into its simplest form. That's what you sound like you did to Alan Wake, just broke it down to the bare bones.
And if you wanted the game to scare you, you really had to work into that environment to make it work. It's like watching a horror movie with a party going on behind you, or walking through a haunted house with your headphones on... Just doesn't work, and then you turn around and go HAR HAR I WASNT SCURRED LOL.
Try playing it all alone with all the lights off or something... that's what I meant when I said the game was scary. I mean, walking all alone with your shitty flashlight through the woods, darkness swirling all over the place, and then the game zooms out, slows down, and there's like 3 fucking guys with axes right behind you? Fuck. I mean I wasn't TERRIFIED, but it was tense, and thrilling, and scary, yah.
Sounds to me like you just rushed through and didn't pay much attention to anything. Shame, shame...

why do people talk so much about horror in this game? this was never marketed as a completely horror title and i never saw this game as a horror one. this is a psychological/mystical thriller. for horror play silent hill, penumbra, siren, fatal frame.
this game has extended amount of haters because of the whole PC version ordeal so it's natural that there are plenty people who didn't like it. for me this is the 2nd best game this year, after RDR.

Quote: | The only thing you need to do to kill enemies is use the flashlight and the normal gun. You can face up to 5 enemies easily without consuming a single battery. All you need to do is stun the enemies repeatedly until the darkness is beaten... Just flick the stronger light on for a fraction of a second on each enemy, let them be stunned, rinse and repeat, the flashlight regens fast enough that you won't need to use any batteries.
The combat was shit in my opinion, waaaaay to easy. I was playing on the hardest difficulty, don't need to aim at all since the gun basically auto aims for you as long as the flashlight is in the vicinity of the enemy. :/ For me, this is a pretty big no no... This is supposed to be a scary game and yet, how can one be scared when nothing poses a threat to you? Razz The combat just feels like it's completely on rails...
|
Now I know you're exagerating because it takes more than a fraction of a sec to burn the darkness off enemies with your flashlight, no mater what. It's not related to skill, it's a gameplay mechanic that changes with the game difficulty only.
Also, the hardest difficulty is nightmare, witch is only available after you beat the game for the first time. And somehow, I doubht it's your seccond playthrough .

He didn't say that. He said that "flashing" an enemy stuns them, so that you can just keep holding your light on them in normal mode, without consuming power and still drain the shadow.
