Interesting game, has a lot of potential, but it's typically Obsidian-clunky. Controls feel sketchy, especially combat; aiming the gun is horrid and that crosshair?? Why oh god why....? Audio is fine and, like ME2, there's a number of stats you can upgrade, as well as earning perks from behaving in a certain way. Weapons can be upgraded and there's lots of gadgets and items to experiment with.

There's no two ways about it, the graphics are terrible for a 2010 game. They'd have been terrible for a 2009 or 2008 one, and maybe just about passable in 2007. Honestly they are that bad. I'm no graphics whore, thankfully, so I'm relatively enjoying the game so far based solely on gameplay and later potential, but it IS ugly.

I'll keep playing and let everyone know how I get on later. So far? Definitely worth checking out, it's like Mass Effect - though it's closer to Mass Effect 2, just set in current-day time period.

Can you loot enemies later on?
Kind of bugged me that the first guy I killed had a gun in his hand and I couldn't pick it up. And after I looked around the corpse was gone. o.O

So my first impression is pretty bad. Had high hopes for this. Graphics, Gameplay, Sound nothing impressed me. :/

Also I could have sworn I saw a vid where you could edit your chars appearance. But I couldn't at the start of the game.

Thanks Sabin! Nice mini review! I am a little hesitant to download but I think I will since I really enjoyed ME2. I am also not a graphic whore so the gameplay may be good enough for me.

The xbox 360 can do 4x FSAA anti aliasing, so why can't this company get it right?

there was requirement for all 360 games to run at minimum 720p with 2xFSAA, but MS removed this requirement. so now all devs can do whatever, no more worrying about optimization etc. notice a big influx of sub-HD games on consoles lately.

Here is some more info from IGN, which addresses that you can edit your character appearance later in the game:

Yes, thankfully. You couldn't loot them at the start because they were part of the whole tutorial thing.

It's worth a try mate. What's the cost of one DL-DVD compared to full price? Like I said; it has potential. Lots of it. It's just typically Obsidian-esque glitchy .... lol... that company just CANNOT make a game without it being crippled by bugs or gameplay issues.

You are right Obsidian does have a bad past of glitchy games! NWN2 comes to mind, but was later patched and turned out to be a great game. I am downloading this but it will have to wait. Nothing is going to pull me away from SMG2/RDR right now! Smile

MS removed that requirement after they got caught with their pants down, Halo 3 running at actually 640p. Laughing

I'm done with this game. Has SEGA ever produced a decent game? I don't know where to start.

How about the horrid controls. The deadzones are set up wrong and the analog actions aren't equally spaced. You push the stick 10% to aim slowly or walk and the remaining 90% is pedal to the medal. Voice acting was bad but not terrible. I "snuck up" on one of the horrid AI guards on his 3 o'clock more than once. once i was behind a guard and he heard me exit cover somehow and spun around and shot me. That leads me to the RIDICULOUSLY huge crosshairs. It takes up like 1/10 of the screen and you have a "chance" to hit in that circle. I unloaded a clip from a pistol at a guy 3' away and didn't hit him once which is pretty sad for a highly trained special agent. The hacking wordsearch game is total weaksauce. No minimap unless you open your pda which isn't actually a big deal since the maps are very linear.

I do like hacking the consoles and lock-picking. Those are done well.

I'ma set my drink on this waste of a game.

does anyone know whether purchasing the dossiers on certain individuals actually gives some sort of bonus or are they just for 100% completionists? i'm in moscow now, just dumped roughly 30k on those for albatross, sis and the info broker and the few bits of text added in their dossiers are worth shit.

the game is not bad so far...i can live with those gfx, gunplay gets better (or at least more comfortable) as you get a more advanced arsenal and the story is quite interesting. definitely one of the "more than the sum of its parts" kind of games.

After being underwhelmed at the gameplay videos, I knew it would be one of those games. So your advice to the naysayers - shut up and keep playing?

definitely give it a try, his email replies alone are worth it Laughing

it's like if metal gear solid 4 and mass effect had a child, but daddy worked at a nuclear powerplant and mommy smoked a pack a day during pregnancy. a bit wonky and not that nice to look at, but special. in a good way.

Just take your time. Observe the board. Look for the digits that aren't moving, then place one of the two matching code keys. It's easy, you just need good eyes.

As for the game itself? It would be all kinds of AWESOME if it wasn't for the gunplay... sheesh. That has to be THE shoddiest gunplay I've encountered in a game in a long, long time.
