Quote: | Ubisoft takes the wraps off of its newest major studio and its Splinter Cell sequel development, via interviews with key staff, including general manager Jade Raymond.
"All of the core team has relocated with me from Montreal," said Raymond, speaking to Gamasutra as part of a series of interviews at the new studio. However, she said, "Where you develop a game does have an impact on who it appeals to... When you think of it like that, I think the Splinter Cell franchise fits Toronto," alluding the the local flavor you'll find in different Ubisoft games developed around the world.
The new studio is working on the latest Splinter Cell game using the technology base developed at the Montreal studio, alongside another triple-A project. In fact, said Raymond, the studio won't pursue smaller projects.
"Instead of starting a studio and working on small projects, Nintendo DS or portables, we're starting out of the gate with triple-A only. The reason that I think that's the right strategy is that it allows us to attract the best talent right off the bat," said Raymond. |
Quote: | The core staff beyond the previously-announced Raymond, who serves as general manager, includes Maxime Beland (Splinter Cell: Conviction) as creative director, Ubisoft Montreal veteran Rima Brek as the head of tech, Splinter Cell: Conviction producer Alex Parizeau as head of production, and producer Lesley Phord-Toy, who came to the company from Montreal-based A2M (Wet). |
This is the first game done by Ubi Toronto, too bad Beland is behind this fucking PoS again.

Yeah, a lot of us enjoyed Conviction. Don't think your opinion is the definitive verdict.

Agreed. I like the graphics though, but i'd rather play 20 years old nintendo games like Mission Impossible than this POS for dummies.

I've no idea what you mean by that post. Are you saying CT is bad? Cause, well, CT is the best stealth game ever made pretty much.

hey now, conviction was the FIRST splinter cell game i liked
i actually retried chaos theory last week purely on the basis of people in conviction threads praising it as the high water mark, and it STILL sucked donkey balls for me
(well, i liked the s60 splinter cell... good mobile game for the era)
yes, conviction had a lot of retarded stuff and clearly had nothing to do with the original franchise
and i well understand people who love a franchise to see it turned into something else..
i felt the same with fallout3 (great game as rpg-fps - just not fallout like i wanted it to be)
i think it would have been highly praised if it was called 24:the game

Not really, because the game on its own is still very dumb. The AI, the bad shooting mechanics, the bad engine, etc.
