You know those programs that can simulate a windows environement ? I need to test some malware stuff and iv'e heard that it's possible with those. I'm too lazy to reformat every time i test something so that would be ideal.

Btw is it safe to test some of the nastiest stuff with these progs ? Is there any danger that it could "leak" into my real windows ?

Yeah i'm a noob i know but i've never messed with that type of app before so.

If you still want a VM (Virtual Machine) you should use VMware, it's hands down the best.

sandboxie gets my vote aswell
i run everything i don't trust in a box first to see if it does anything nasty and i can easily stomp on it if anything happens and it just disappears
also great for installing games and software you don't want messing with your registry and system files (i have steam in a box aswell)
you just have to disable 'drop rights' setting for the boxes on a x64 machine

Alright , i'll try VMWare i guess

Sandboxie look nice but it look more like a preventive application more than a full fledged windows virtualization. I don't have and haven't had problems with malware in a long time. I just want to test some of the nastiest stuff out there for educational purposes and it seems that VMWare would be better for that.

Thanks guys.

With VMWare Workstation you can also save states, so you can experiment, and if something goes wrong, you can go back to a previous state. Coupled with state branching, and this thing can be very powerful testing machine. Smile
