What I don't get is why you guys can even still SEE the disk channel. I RARELY ever go to the Wii System Menu - Wiiloader + a good USB loader forwarder means less clicking between turn on and play.
Because I use the Wii menu, and SD menu, for my WiiWare/VC titles, silly
Ahh. Can you not run that shit from inside a USB loader then? TBH I've never found a WiiWare / VC title that's made me want to download it!!
Yeah, I have many VC/WiiWare games that work off my SD card. However, the 1 WiiWare game that I wanted to play LostWinds wouldn't work.

I only have two WiiWare titles that don't work off SD, only off the Menu, and those are Cave Story and Blaster Master Overdrive. The only correlation between the two is that they're NTSC (PAL Wii) and even though I've patched System and SD Channels to be region-free, these just don't work off SD.

So how do you play Cave Story?? Cave story was the only game I tried to play off SD and I couldn't get it to work too, so I didn't try any other game.
27 stars and 11 "medals" just about to hit the last part of World 3 and yeah it's getting more challenging, especially those bonus sections (Feeding luma for other more diverse worlds to unlock, finding hidden stars and general secrets on the levels like just that meteorite coin, haven't done any of those yet either.)
I guess it's the usual eight worlds so things should be even tougher towards the end.
(Some levels really have you lose a lot of 1up's before you finally succeed, makes it feel more satisfying though it can get a bit frustrating as well to try and complete each world and galaxy by finding all the stars so I've been jumping a bit back and forth.)
EDIT: There are ending videos and similar on youtube already though so some more hardcore players have already finished the game it seems.
(Including finding all stars and even finding speedruns and glitches like this one regarding jumping )
Ah I meant that but I worded it kinda odd maybe ("meteorite") sorry, to complete a world would be to collect all stars on each galaxy (Normal and hidden ones.) and those medals/coins for comets and the associated challenge with that once unlocked.
Spoiler:
Also you get a bonus, though I don't know what, from collecting all 9999 star-bits and giving to the banker-like toad, at each 1000 you also get a 1up and he changes his appearance reaching a specific value.
Of course, those do respawn and of course you can replay the levels so it's always possible to find more, I guess the ultimate would be 9999 banked and 9999 carried, heh.
(I use them quite often though I try to save a few hundred here and there between doing other levels.)
The only thing I don't like and have never liked is that you lose all your 1-ups when you save and quit. I have stopped quitting and just leave my Wii on. I mean, I never use my Wii anyway so it won't hurt it to be left on! LOL! That is the only thing I have found that I don't like otherwise it's the perfect game so far 28 stars in. Also, I found World 2 Boss battle extremely EASY! LOL! I know it will get much harder.

Shit as soon as I said that, world 3 got mental hard. I started doing the prankster comets and shit they are tough. Much more fun doing the special shit, but man it's more tricky than ever! (except, maybe sm64:))
Dunno I don't think the game is very hard. Maybe some of the prankster levels later on need a couple of retries. I believe the highest time I died on a level was probably 10. (and I'm pretty impatient xD)
I got 110 stars without much trouble and getting the last few isn't just worth it. (where are my achievements and trophies)
But the game provides almost perfect balance between hard and easy. It's challenging enough to encourage you to keep playing and easy enough so it's not frustrating.
I agree with MistressDeath, that it sucks they don't save your 1ups I had over 40 the first time I quit and over 80 the second time.
But I guess they do so you cannot get into a corner where you only have one left and save.
If you run out of 1ups, there is always one on the toad spaceship which floats above your spaceship. And there is always a cube lying around where you can win one too.

Yes, the Prankster Comets are really fun, but tough!! The Shadow Purple Coin was tough for me, I kept running out of time with 1 or 2 purple coins left. Finally got it on the 4th try. I also just found out how to get 5 1-ups:
Spoiler:
A green pipe appeared on my space ship. You go down the pipe and pay the Luma 30 star bits for a chance to get 5 1-ups. I hit the cube when the 3 1-ups side was facing me! Very nice that they put in ways to get 1-ups. Also you can use Yoshi to get another free 1-up by swinging with his tongue and then eat all the fruit.

Yeah, I have been having trouble most of the time dying an average 3 times per star. Some of them were very tough for me! Especially the Rhythm Blocks planet! Uhhggg, so easy, yet I kept screwing up on my jumps and I would fall through. 10 deaths on that planet! But when I got the star it was very rewarding! I also had trouble with the Tree Slide!!! I died 8 times on that sucker! It was a process of elimination for me. I would get farther each time but them die on the new part of the track! LOL!

I just played a few levels now, but I noticed there are some Yoshi doors, for example in the first world. Do they do anything special? There is just a Yoshi pictured on the door, but you can't get Yoshi in that level afaik?

Well that's his home.
You can't get him in this level but I believe you can get him in level 3. (You can't miss him)
The Yoshi levels are fixed, so you can't take him to the other levels, like level 1.
silly question but here goes... do you need to play first one or can you just pick this up and play? or do you need to run through first one to get story etc?
Like any Mario game there isn't much of a story anyway. But I suggest you play Galaxy 1 first, as Yondaime said it is also a great game and you won't regret it.
