Anyone else here other than st00z and I using android? I'm loving it so far and especially that Steve Jobs is so "scared" of its crazy success lately that he had to announce that android is for porn.
Open source development + porn = bad? Steve has his priorities wrong.

I use Android as a secondary OS on my Diamond. I must admit it's pretty sweet, especially when you consider what both MS and Apple have in store for us in the future...

Nouse, have you tried looking into flashing a new radio ROM? I know that people managed to unlock lots of MB for RAM use with a custom radio ROM for the HD2, so it is worth checking it out. A will know by now.

I have an old HTC Dream somewhere, I was going to route it out now Cyanogenmod 5 is available for it.
I am thinking of getting the Desire

You can change almost anything in the iphone, UI, system tools, whatever... and the community is great!
After jailbreaking you don´t even need to connect the phone to the PC to make major changes, you do everything directly on the phone.
People talk so much about the iphone without knowing...
I owned every system available except webOS, and there is no system as fluid as the iphone, and it has only 128mb ram.
And then, there´s the library... Simply unbeatable...

The great thing about android, the only limitation is your creative mind and the hardware, people are very generous with android too offering their apps for free, like most of the stuff I use. Theres a few I had the lite versions for a while and after some updates, I bought em, I know the stuff is easy as all hell to pirate but, at only a couple dollars for something I get extensive use out of, I have no problem paying.
One of the fun ones I use is a police scanner Can call for an amusing hour or so listening to police chasing down drug dealers n shit lol.
The boxing game I just posted above dev'd be Glu was REALLY well done, it's as close to punch out! as I've ever seen.
oh btw. Heres a "new" accessory to make playing those emulators and keyboard games easier.

Just ordered mine today, got a black one with red transcluent buttons

Anyone who wants to check Android 2.1 on their HTC Windows Mobile, here you go:
http://www.htc-android.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=734
No need to worry about flashing ROMs, etc., it's very simple. You download it, extract the contents to the root of a storage card (or internal storage, if your device has one, but not in "\"), go to the storage device, copy the correct startup file for your device to the root folder (where you extracted the Android files) and launch Haret.exe. This program will unload WM and boot Android. "It's that simple. Amazingly awesome. Better and better and better."
I've been running these builds for months now, and I have to admit, soon enough it will become good enough for constant use, and I am tempted to abandon the old WM for good.
There is also an Ubuntu build for HTC devices, and it works just like the Android in regards to installing. If anyone is interested, I can post more info.

Quote: | Android phones overtake iPhones: NPD

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US sales of smartphones running Google's Android mobile operating system surged past those of Apple for the first time in the first quarter of the year, industry research firm NPD said Monday.
Android-powered smartphones accounted for 28 percent of US consumer sales in the first three months of the year compared with 21 percent for the iPhone, NPD said.
Canada's Research in Motion, maker of the popular Blackberry, retained the top spot with 36 percent of US smartphone sales in the quarter, NPD said.
Strong sales of Motorola's Android-powered Droid and HTC's Android-based Droid Eris were cited as among the reasons for Android's surge past Apple. |

That's fun but what about total sales...

He's not in USA.
@VGAdeadcafe
Take a look at the Google Nexus One. Not sure if it is the cheapest one (probably not, as there are some older HTC models), but for the specs it has a good price.
