Are you sure it supports multichannel audio in games? I think it only does Dolby Digital encoded audio as multichannel, but I don't think it has a built-in encoder.

Just beat the game and I have a couple of questions guys.
Spoiler: |
Is it possible to converse with Darcy at the end game?
Also can you kill Scarlet if you're not too friendly with her? I was hoping I could as the heart broken super spy. Oh Scarlet! You used me! How could you?! Sure I may have jumped on every hot dame that came my way, but those women meant nothing to me! And yet you betrayed me. TIGER UPPERCUT!
My boat end actually fit in rather neat. Just like a spy movie.
|
Fun game. I am so glad I blew off that high school camping trip reunion thing in favor of beating the game over the weekend.
And yeah, it's hard for me not to be Pistol CQC Stealth agent on my replay. Too much fun. I'll try replaying on easy and not use any armor. Just the civilian outfit.

Hi,
I am just starting with this game. Can anybody give me advice which weapon skill is the best to spend points?
There are too many skills to maximize them all so what weapon is the best? I would prefer some sniper rifle skill or something like that, but I am not sure what may be the best to choose for that...
thanx

Just stick with Assault Rifles and Toughness I suppose.
I find it's more fun to act like RE5 Albert Wesker and pick up Martial Arts with Toughness and some Pistols though.

So i just completed the game :]
I was an all assault guy - rifles, toughness, martial arts. Damn the whole game i felt like The Punisher
the things i did:
Spoiler: |
tutorial:
-friend with Mina, disliked by Parker, neutral with the chief and Darcey
saudi arabia
-killed everyone that i could , those are the dealer and businessmen guy
Moscow
-met Grigori - smashed his head a bit, got a discount for that :]
-met Sie but she did not liked me much, later on - just some mails from her and that's all
-Spared Sis's live, became good buddies with G22 and cooperated frequently with them later
-Met Surkov - hated him from the very beginning - killed him in a cruel way
-Saved Albatross from Brayko. Executed the punk.
Taipei
-Met the triad boss, got a disliked rep quickly
-Became a very best buddie with Heck - this guy is nuts.
-Got a max relation status with Scarlet and fed her with reports on mail..
-Decided to save the president over the riots
-Fought Omen - executed him immediately (damn i didn't know about Scarlet.. (saw that in a previous spoiler.. definitely should replay and keep this guy alive)))
Rome
-when i first met Marburg - we hated each other - a hate from first sight - and always confronted him
- decided to killed the professor during the sniping mission.
-was a bit cautious but later friendly with Madison.
-Saved her in the museum, bombs exploded and Marburg got away. She was pretty uppsed that i've saved her and not all the people.
Endgame
Got laid with Mina, told her to go to safety
After that i got laid with Scarlet as well.
At a initial cutscene Leland said he had Scarlet captured.. At game end summary i tried to contact her.. her status is unknown.. :[
I got Heck to be my helper - it was fun.
Saved Mina (i expected Scarlet.. ). Then i proceeded with Heck to slaughter things.
Killed Parker
Killed Darcey
Westridge was nowhere to be found
Marburg escaped.. bugger
Killed Leland..
Sailed away with Mina.
credits:
-Maddison became a strong political figure, lobing in front of US and Eu about fighting terrorism -but not by sacrificing the people in this fight.
-President Sung strengthened his relations with other countries (Russia , i think)
-memorial for Romes museum bombing.
-and more...
|
I must say i was somewhat dissapointed by the endgame mission.
Also the final ending presentation - just by audio during the end credits.. meh :[ I somewhat expected the overview of my choices to be chained more.. visually in the end. Also i think i had somewhat meh ending.
Now its time for round 2. This time - stealthy and merciful veteran Mike a la James Bond.. hm it would not be a full James Bond experience if one of my girls won't die tho..
Per aspera ad astra

So I didn't get a chance to see what it gave me, and more importantly - how did I get it. I wonder if anyone had it, and knows what's it about? It's not a big deal obviously, but I am just curious, since I didn't get it again on reload and I can't seem to find any info on it anywhere, which is odd. |
You get it by "getting" 1000 points of damage without duying.

If you favor ranged, assault rifle is the best, if stealth, then pistol (due to silencer).
Submachines and shotguns are for close range. Submachine for massive ROF (dual wield!), shotguns for knockback effect.

You find them ON the mission, placed at various locations. A lot of time it's just some extra ammo or a few weapon mods, but sometimes you might find an a sniper rifle that has been placed at a strategic location. |
But that wasn't the info @ the intel. They said that the stuff would be too heavy to carry and was going to be delivered to my safehouse.

Anyone know if Mina has a mission at the start in the Gray Box after you do weapons orientation?
Or do you need to meet a certain score or something?

If anyone cares, the Obsidian devs don't seem to be active much on the AP forums. Very unlike Obsidian, they were always surfing the forums for their previous games. Let's hope they'll give this some heavy patching like they did with their older games.

Finished on Recruit. Probably around 20-25 hours. I would of also liked to have some sort of end game stat summary, or more complete 'choice' overview. Oh well. Let's see what I can remember doing...
Spoiler: |
Saudi Arabia
Killed everyone, tossed the guy from the bridge.
Moscow
Worked with Grigori.
Worked with SIE, got a lot of good rep.
Spared Brayko for information. Coke snorting fuck, wish I had killed him now.
Taipei
Worked with Heck, achieved friendship rep. I love that guy. Crazy bastard.
Worked with Scarlett with good rep.
Saved the President. (With G22 help)
Spared Omen, which was a good thing in the end.
Rome
Killed Al-Bara.
Refused Marburg.
Met Madison, planning on being nice...
But she died in the museum, chose to go to the bomb instead.
Alpha Protocol
SIE was my... handler
Refused offer, punched Leland
Told Marburg to fuck off
Killed everyone in AP, and Leland at the end.
Sailed away on the boat with Mina.
Sexed everyone but Madison (since she died in my game, I think I had an opportunity at the apartment but my rep wasn't good enough then, oh well.) The SIE sexing was hilarious.
Too bad this thing is getting mostly shit reviews and is unlikely to be a big seller, I would of liked to see another one. The choice thing they kept harping on did live up to my expectations, but it did start to get annoying getting the run around from everyone who was supposedly your target. I guess that''s typical of a spy story though. |
Overall
Story 9/10
Gameplay 7/10
Presentation 7/10
Really enjoyed it. But another case of Obsidian fucking themselves over with gameplay and presentation issues.
But I'm still going to do my Veteran run and do the exact opposite of my first run now.

whole recruit thing is joke.. you get recruit options while in alpha base training, which last for maybe hour, after that whole recruit speech option disappears..

That was clearly explained when you chose the recruit/veteran option. At least if you read it ^^

Veteran and Recruit pop up now and then even after training though I've only seen both twice or so at most so it's not that common and I didn't choose it either time.
Spoiler: |
Actually on Veteran right now and it's only appeared once, mainly doing a bad guy run however so a lot of potential dialogue is cut out since those NPC are all dead or hate me.
Bryko's mansion when allied with VCI if choosing to save SIE, one side is to go after the data and leave her and the other side is to go after her, the option on the data side has a veteran option and the one for her has a ruthless option, both were unclear so I didn't test either, will have to save more often to test these out since some outcomes are a bit obscure.

I have got a question regarding the embassy in Moscow mission:
Spoiler: | I have sided with the G22, and was infiltrating the embassy, when the VCI came in guns blazing killing everyone... After the mission ended, the debrief said that I decided to go on a frontal attack killing everyone. And a second note said that while I was fighting with the VCI inside, I have also killed the guards and the marines...but I didn't.
So I am curious, is it a glitch? Or did I in fact kill some guards by mistake(I didn't as far as I know). Perhaps those who have finished that mission in similar circumstances could tell me if they had the same result?

This might help.
Spoiler: |
On one hand if you frighten or even go violent towards Gregori he'll alert Surkov that you are dangerous and the guards will be replaced by tougher marines, if not they'll be security guards, if possible try to help them once you infiltrate the compound via roof access once the faction you didn't choose to aid with starts their attack as that might be where some got wounded or even killed, don't need to save everyone but don't let all of the guards die either, particularly the ones posted at the entrance as that's sort of a trigger to that you decided to attack the gate guards directly.
(If they're security guards they'll also be less armored and have weaker armor though Surkvo will be much more helpful if he isn't suspecting you.)

Isn't the point of recruit also to have a bit more challenge? Starting with zero skills as opposed to level 4 or 5 using one of the preset classes? That's why I chose it anyway.
@MinderMast
Spoiler: | Yeah, I had a similar note about killing guards and marines when I did not. I wasn't sided with G22 at the time, so I'm not sure what that is about. Could be a bug or maybe they count the crossfire between you vs VCI or G22 or whoever you're against at the time? |
