Yeah, I learned early on not to do these "Ah, this will probably not be in the exam, so I won't study for it" experiments. It's called Murphy's law, if there is something you haven't learned, you can be certain it will be in the exam. Very Happy

Laughing So true, but despite the complete truthfulness of the mentioned Murphy's law, the: "Ah, this will probably not be in the exam, so I won't study for it" theory is still my war horse, especially for non-oral tests. Razz

That's the sad part about studying for an exam, no matter how much you study you'll always miss something. And as if the teacher's are playing a joke on you, they'll ask something about that tiny thing you didn't bother reading.

Hmm come to think of it, I had this history teacher back in high-school with trick questions, he made me mad sometimes.
One example: What was the most humiliating thing about the peace treaty of Versailles for Germany?
The answer: the peace treaty itself Twisted Evil
That was 25 years ago and I still remember it Crying or Very sad
Silly brain of me, sigh.

That's extremely stupid, borderline retarded. I hate teachers who advance their political views, whatever they are, especially history teachers, which ought to be as monotonous as reading an encyclopedia. His job is to teach the facts as they are, not teach his opinion the fact. Embarassed

Yes you're right I had another history teacher at age 12-14, he told us that many Dutch people were part of the Dutch resistance during the WWII occupation.
Well that is a popular lie to make people feel better, in fact it was only a handful of people who really resisted the Nazis.
We had a little discussion about it and then I reminded him of the last Dutch elections before the outbreak of WWII, something like 10% of the population voted for a pro Nazi party.
He immediately started to treat me like I was one of the collaborators.
History teachers who falsify history, grrr.
Nevermind I am high jacking kazemaky's thread Very Happy
Good luck next time buddy!

History is always falsified in some way. What's another history teacher pushing his own views.

yeah, even I knew at the age of 12-14 that the winner writes the history books. No wonder I hated some of those lame ass teachers.

It is hugely sad that a teacher even feels the urge to press his opinion forward on some innocent kids. Not only history teachers, but they are the champs in 'bending the truth'... It is plain sad. You are a real ass if you use your kiddies in school to make yourself feel better.

Same goes btw for teachers who go into a discussion with a 14y old and never ever want to admit they are wrong... I remember a famous quote but cannot translate it, but the dutch speakers, enjoy it "Je hebt gelijk, maar ik geef je geen gelijk" Something as "You are right, but i don't want to give you credit for it..."

I mean, I have to teach 23y old grad students some courses and some of them are real twats and if they want to start a ridiculous discussion, I always tell them to do it their way on the exam and see how big their mouth then is. And if they still discuss, I just tell them they are right, but my inferior method will be used on the exam. "It is up to you to decide between your pride and your grades". I have never seen anyone write down their 'superior' method on an exam...

btw, back on topic...

No second chance in August or so? Maybe you should do some studying the next time Wink

Same here in Latvia. We had extremely hard math exam this year and I messed up some things. But over here you are compared to others, so if the exam is hard and most people fuck it up, chances are you still get an average/ a bit above average mark.

And last year was just piss easy (And last yea the exams got leaked :] ) compared to this year's exam, even the teachers were shocked. No one from my school did all the tasks, so hopefully I get a C or something (It's A - highest to F - lowest)
