Heh, that's pretty common by now unfortunately and I sort of figured it could be something like that, also common is the case of faking install images and releases though WBB and other open sources like torrent sites are starting to become better at filtering such stuff out.
It's also starting to increase within modding communities and other places but I guess that's expected as game popularity continues to grow.
(Any larger online community would probably show the same, compare early BF1942 players to recent Bad Company 2 ones for example or even titles like CS, I don't play online much myself though but it's difficult not to hear about it.)
Well, for modding it's not always bad.
For example, the modding community of NFS Shift has found ways to make the console-only DLC cars work on the PC version (for free).
Yes as you say there are some benefits to it, unlocking existing content worked out pretty well in some cases like the GTA IV episode stuff that remained in the PC version and say the modded savegames for Splinter Cell conviction (Cs.rin) that allows all DLC unlocks (And probably future DLC haha.) to be used and played minus one or two items.
I'm not terribly bothered by someone trying to take credit or using stuff I've uploaded, I use a lot of other peoples work as well though I usually say so.
(Like linking to WinMerge and Universal Extractor when unpacking or comparing stuff, guides and tutorials to say tweaks or unpackers like those from Xentax and so on.)
Will have to check that WBB post though, seems like it could be a interesting read, ha ha.
(Unfortunately I can't do much to help out, game is to large for me to upload anywhere with this connection and it wouldn't be very usable without a crack either and even if the launcher could be bypassed those triggers would be quite a hinderance, still Skidrow or some other group like Reloaded or Razor for example will probably go at it, hopefully they'll also support later patches though I think it's only Settlers that is lagging a bit behind in that area.)
Next up should be Sniper Ghost Warrior game on the 11th.
(Not pre-ordered it though or anything, City Interactive has had a bit of a reputation though the later FPS titles they've released have been a improvement over past releases and it does look very interesting though "sniper" might be a bit of a stretch, heh.)
Heh well that's perhaps a bit much though it's fairly consistent with the rest of the game so far, framerate at the lowest was 64 and it's usually over 70, not using the most advanced shader works or lightning/shadow system though so low framerate would have been quite odd.
(Crossfire is apparently a bit problematic when using AA from what I've read but hopefully the upcoming 10.6 drivers will rectify this unless ATI starts updating that app profile utility again.)
And regrettably as console sales rake in such huge amounts of money and overall profit compared to PC sales it's not hard to see which system is being favored or targeted primarily, Red Dead has already sold over five million copies whereas many PC titles barely reach one million lately, of course I'm not blind or anything and I do think it's partially due to the low support and marketing plus release scheduling this is due to, not just the "piracy" factor many seem to believe in.
(Understandably piracy affects sales but it's not so over-hyped as some would believe and partially this is sort of expected seeing how potential PC customers are treated at times.)
(Super restrictive DRM, six month delay and barely any improvements, console-like features like simplified controls or UI, often sub-par optimization and so on, of course if they can't cover the expenses it's also a given that not many studios would try to go extra far for what would likely just be a re-release of the game on another platform.)
(Some do though but it's rare, same reason why DX10 and DX11 doesn't do much at the moment along with multi-core optimization and memory usage as it's all streamlined for consoles and rarely given the workover that would benefit PC hardware.)
(Of course it's not like everything is quickly ported and then forgotten about but we are a bit locked at least until the next console hardware generation with DX12, quad core and whatever else will be seeing and explosive increase, that's like 2013 or something though seeing what MS and Sony have spent and want to regain with exclusives, project like sense and natal and general marketing expenses however.)
EDIT: This game is done well and I'm not saying otherwise but it's a pretty basic console to PC transition with only what seems to be the necessities.
(Resolution and customizable options though not many of them, AF option is lacking altogether though AA can be adjusted but nothing more advanced can be altered aside from keybindings and some other smaller stuff, it does run and perform well however but at a bare minimum of work required for it to do so or how to best describe it.)
Yeah that's as high as it goes (Minus AA which could be increased further.) and yeah again the prince does look a bit odd, apparently modeled after the guy who plays him in the movie with a few variations, he looks even odder in the intro movie though.

Dev's gotta be drunk when they fucking modeled him, since hes not so damn ugly in real life tho ..
That's one of the reasons I use a alternate outfit when playing the game, default reminds me of Conan or something like that.
(Black hair, crude features, light outfit, hacks everything to pieces when trying to solve problems, single-handed destroyed five or so kingdoms by now due to clumsiness and aggression, nearly destroying the whole of the ancient Persian empire a few times as well by now with everything from unleashing curses to powerful beings and even a angry god, haha.)
EDIT: "Hardware" is their analytical utility that detects you system capabilities, it's not really used for anything.
(Other tab selects speech language.)

Developers did not model him after the movie guy, since they were not allowed But anyway looks retarded.
JBeckman: Yeah I guessed it's just to show what hardware you have. It's just that label HardWare (capitalized W) that I find funny. I guess they made it so it looks "cool".
I suppose the "lore" reason behind the disappearing bodies would simply be that they're made from some magical sand and thus dissipates back to that sand on death (Seen as wounded enemies are mostly just sand forms.) though even so they kinda do possess actual bodies in order to manifest into those different beasts.
The proper reason would indeed be memory management and cleanup optimization by removing the models via a fancy fade effect as seen in many other titles like for example in say Doom 3.
(A little pile of a skull and some bones would have been more unique and could be made rather low-poly as well though.)
EDIT: Yeah fodder enemies like those skeletons and initial palace invaders can be worked trough due to knockback effects and a sort of scythe like sweep that goes trough several foes at once, bigger enemies tend to require more effort though once upgraded not much will challenge the prince aside from in vast numbers.
(Weaker enemy = click, click, click dead, shield carrier = kick, click click dead, strong enemy = hold click for power attack x2 and dead or use environmental hazards and other abilities.)

True, that's a bit of a oversight, same with seeing and being able to use energy and health orbs by breaking containers.
(He shouldn't have anything to absorb them with at the very least.)
Another oversight would be how the "sand" interacts with the prince but that's sort of a spoiler.
Spoiler:
Or actually how the Djinn takes possession of people via influence via the sands by absorbing power from it which Malik and the Prince does though only Malik is affected despite the Pirnce's body count not being very far behind at all yet he's not affected in any way and just gets stronger without being afflicted or corrupted in any way, possible due to that other water Djinn's influence though.
EDIT: It's the same engine?, now that you mention it they do share some similarities like the file archives, strange then how AC2 could handle more persistent bodies despite a bit more open environment.
(Although more aggressive level of detail culling and draw distance tweaks, of course some objects are affected similarly in this game, traps for example fade out rather early easily seen in some of the longer corridors and halways.)

Yeah, the EU version will be here tomorrow, on the 11th. Imo I think that maybe, and I say maybe, in the weekend will be cracked. And that's because it is not as complex as AC2. It appears to be quite liniar.
wonder why there is no server emultor's thread on steam under ground's forums for this game? people from there may be able to meke a temp release until proper one by the scene will be made.
Kismet's Law- the number of DRM 'experts' in a given gaming thread is directly proportional to the worthlessness of a game and inversely proportional to the likelihood of that game getting cracked within the foreseeable future.
