To young to have played XCom and Syndicate however so I can't say much, liked the newer XCom titles but apparently those were far from what was in the older ones. | Don't know about Syndicate nowadays (it was a fantastic game) but the X-Com Ufo Defence is still a good game. The graphics may be old (doesn't bother me) but the game is still pure gold. You should try it...

Well that trailer was a big fail. That game has nothing to do with X-com. This is exactly like Bioshock where you have to take pictures of the enemy and god what a fail look for the alien. Who the hell thought that it would be cool to create a black puddle alien. Like jeez no imagination. Give us Xenonauts and i will be happy.

Wow what a lame trailer. What is it with their stupid retro settings. First bioshock and now this... Oh and those blob looking aliens, wow so fucking boring and unimaginative. I suspect this game will be one of those that are only fun to play trough because everything else is even shittier.

The X-Com series died for me with X-Com 3... let it rest. Nothing good will come from desecrating this once beautiful but now rotten corpse.

I see some subliminal messages in that hilariously bad trailer,
are we gonna call the "BP busters"?

With the retro 50s look, I would swear that this was Fallout meets X-Files FPS, not X-Com...

This just turned meh in my opinion. All the graphics in the world can't save this title for me if the strategy layer isn't good.

I gotta say that Xcom 3 (apocalypse )was my favorite. While it was not strategic,it was more tactical oriented because you were confined to the city.I liked the ability to police the city and not just the aliens but other rival crime factions. The battles were also modeled better in that you had both turn based and real time if you chose and the buildings were better detailed and provided for better CQB options.I also liked how fire spread and could turn into raging infernos.I only used real time until the actual targets were spotted and then I went to turn based for battles.Provided for better planning. Some people liked it some didn't.I loved it.The only thing that came close was the titles like Aftershock and Aftermath but sadly they were missing the turn based option.

I really want to see how this game will turn out. For better or worse, 2k marin actually knows how to make games, even if all of them are FPS'es.
Now, you guys need to realize one thing: This is a reboot, and not a sequel. When you do a reboot, one of the first things you have in mind is readapting an old idea and/or success into something that will be equally successfull today.
20 years ago, science fiction, extra-terrestrials and government conspiracies were in everyones minds, so it was easy to sell a somewhat complicated and well thought strategy game if it had these themes. Today, whats on everyones minds and computers/consoles are FPS'es. So like the dude who said he bought KZ2 just to check it out on the first page, they must make something that EVERYONE will check out, to see how good it'll be.
Theres no point in making a kickass, 100% true to the roots X-COM turn based strategy game if noone will -buy- turn based strategy games in the first place, now matter how good the game will be.
I still have high hopes for this reboot
PS: Although truth be told, i'm concerned about 2K Marin getting a lawsuit from Fox.. looks like they're borrowing quite a lot from X-Files.
...FBI Agent trying to find the truth about aliens and government conspiracies? Black-oil aliens?? WOW!! HOW COME NOONE EVER THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BEFORE!!!?

I have no problem of rebooting it into a FPS, but there absolutely nothing "X-COM" on that trailer (besides the title). It's pointless to waste a classic IP when the game has nothing from that same IP. It's like, for example, Lionhead Studios decide to reboot Dungeon Keeper and make it about sexual sado-maso dungeons (although the sucubbus would fit pretty well).
When I think of X-COM, I think of UN/private extraterrestrial combat units fighting sectoids and gilmen on a losing Earth-war in the near future. Not a FBI Agent killing black oil aliens in the 50s. It's like they got the wrong X-something story.
