Just wondering, is it too difficult to hack the PS3 or is there another reason why there is still no PS3 pirate scene, whereas the XBOX360 pirate scene is running rampant?
Is it because Blu-ray technology has not been cracked yet?
MS must be some lazy bastards... I thought they where all about profit, but they don't do shit against the piracy atm. Change drives only work for a very short time... its hacked pretty fast
On the other side there are looooots of people buying 360 games so they probably doesn't care so much about the small %age of people with flashed consoles^^
the piracy ability was prob meant to be there on xbox it makes u buy a console.. why would u buy a ps3 if the younger gen cant hack it to bits... makes perfect sense to me..
If I can be cynical for a moment, and I always am , they are actually very smart. Even if the design flaws were not intentional, and I doubt they were, MS could have fixed them years ago with newer revisions of the hardware. They didn't, and it's very clear why. It also makes itself even clearer by the fact that MS has been accepting hacked consoles for repairs with very little resistance.
You can't stop the hacking, actually it's the ps3 hackers that are lazy that bitch should have been hacked a long time ago, there is no system yet, hardware or software, that is crack prof, ipod, iphone, psp you name it it's been opened and cracked.
7th cell....Wasnt that a movie?!? Its OK, PS3 isnt worth it anyways.. Nobody has Blu rays either. Ill stick to my WII/PSP/XBOX/PC for hacked stuff.
I'd hardly say the blu-ray aspect is the problem as they're "easy as pie" to make images of and burn (well, movies at least). Not to mention that if you look hard enough (not that hard), you can find 50GB ones for right cheap.

Im pretty sure their hardware failures weren't intended either, they aren't that smart And they must have lost lots of money during the first RROD period when people got it fixed under warranty. Can't be cheap to send the console with a delivery guy to for example Germany (where they are fixed in Europe). Think they used DHL when they got my first RRODed one. Dunno if its still like that or if all countries (officially supported ofc) have it picked up for you. But anyway, the whole process (200 USD maybe?) x 40-50% of xbox users = INSANE AMOUNT OF MONEY O.o
Hmmm, or maybe microsoft are using slaves
They have changed the mobo since then tho. Iv heard people have gotten RROD with jasper too, but seems to be very few compared to Xenon and zyphir. But it took some time before my Xenon failed so... hmmm, crossing fingers
Of couse MS might have lost a lot of many, and probably still is.
But the point is, they desperately needed to get into the gaming department. Xbox1 wasn't that much of a success compared to the PS2. But right now, the X360 pretty much owns the PS3 in terms of user base.
Now think of Live, which gets them a LOT of money, and even pirates might buy a retail game once in a while
And with the next generation of consoles coming up, they have quite an advantage over Sony because right now, X360 games sell more than PS3 games, and so developers will consider that fact for their new games.
Just look at the improvements they made vom Xbox1 to Xbox360, and you will see that MS was quite clever in doing what they did. If they had chosen the same way as with the Xbox1, they surely wouldn't be dominating the console market right now.

Actually.. let's go back to the OPs original question; "Why are there no pirated PS3 games?" -- the answer is; There ARE. Every known PS3 game to date as been dumped and uploaded. They just can't be RAN yet
Well I was after a JTAGed machine a while back, but to be honest.. I'm not so sure now. I just spent £300++ on getting a Wii and PS3 .. and the JTAGed machines I've seen go for between £150-200 and I just can't justify that, not when I already have a flashed 360. No matter how much I badly want one
It's the same thing as with early Windowses. They practically didn't care about home piracy just to establish domination on home PCs (in which they succeeded). And for the Xbox 360, more consoles sold means bigger market share than Sony, and second, owner of a hacked Xbox 360 might buy at least one original game which is better than 0 sold games to a non-owner.

Not to mention MS points for the Marketplace.
Yup! I pirate 90% of my retail disks, but XBLA? I've put HUNDREDS into that money pit.. heh. There's only two things that annoy me about XBLA; No refunds if something goes wrong (ie; there's no pre-purchase disclaimer that Xbox-Classics do NOT work on the VGA cable) and you can't play any of the Indie ttles that you've PAID for if you're not online.

No, you must be connected to XBLA for "Indie" titles. Apparently it's to do with family-safe content on XBL, so that if a game is deemed "not family safe" (ie; pornographic, etc etc) and is removed from XBL, it will also be removed from those that have already downloaded it. A preposterous and ridiculous concept, but meh.
I have a lot of friends with two xbox consoles, one for pirating games the other for online capabilities. I know for a fact they wouldn't have bought half the games they did if they didn't pirate it first. Console open for piracy + good online component = win.
