|
 |
Finally finished my first game start to finish with my new 360 controller (see hardware section )
and so far... yeah i like it, i really do, im glad i decided to get one. For a start, im lovin the vibratomatic love its giving me. yeah im sure the rest of you its old news, but ive NEVER had a console. never. played a ps2 like ONCE in a shop for about 1 minute, and thats it.. ps1 i think i played at a friends place one time, but yeah... this be all new to me, and im kinda a cripple at it for the most part, but im getting the hang of it.
I played arkham asylum, because i thought that'd be a good game to try it out on... the game save corrupted just before the final fight on my first playthough back when the game was new, and i raged so hard i deleted it because i didnt feel like starting from scratch
the vibrogasms were great.. absolutely awesome, i loved it... seeing croc for the first time walking out of the elevator, the shaking really added epic super immersion, it was great... and combat was sweet, it was never this fluid or fun with a keyboard/mouse setup, it really is the best way of playing these kinds of games.
only thing that sucked, was trying to look using the right stick... said it before, aiming on a gamepad will never top a mouse, and while as i said im a gamepad cripple as this is my first time, i just cant imagine it ever topping a mouse for 'look' control... still functional, but it made the moving around and looking (especially for the riddle stuff) much harder for me - but the combat kicked ass on this.
so yeah overall very very happy buying it, and anyone thinking about it - for action type games, i say go for it.... gonna give ass creed 2 a try next, and im on the lookout for more gamepad suitable games.... but yeah... so far so good

You'll get used to the aiming soon and the vibration will get old.

Lies, it's just crap for shooters/anything else that requires precise movement. For games like Assassin's Creed where it doesn't matter as much, gamepads are great tho.

I played maybe four shooters on my Xbox, i got used to it fast enough. I never had played a shooter on a console before. It's not rocket science, just some basic hand eye coordination you'll soon master.

%100 agree. I love having a x360 controller for my PC. For me any game other than FPS and RTS are played with the controller.

you're supposed to hold the controller in your hands, not tape it on your dick |
Im sure he didnt do that...
...however, im pretty sure he had to lube it loads to fit it where he had it. |
i know i play a lot of games, but my hands arent THAT far gone that i cant open and close them anymore...

It's what your used to. I've been playing Quake style shooters on PC since the first Doom shareware release.
Halo on Xbox was a big must for me, and although I initially found look on the right stick unnatural, I persevered and ten years later I can honestly say I can play as easily as with a mouse, and often play using a 360 controller on my gaming notebook. Pro gamers are using controllers now, as reflected by products like the Razer ONZA.

Dam, I want a Razer ONZA, will it work on the 360 too?

The Xbox360 controller should be comfortable for me, but it isn't. Usually after about half an hour I get pain in my thumbs, mostly from the left stick. Anyone else have that problem? I think you have to stretch out your thumbs too far to get to the stick. My hands aren't big but they aren't small either.
I prefer the simpler and more comfortable (for me) PS3 controller although the Xbox triggers and dpad are better. The drivers to make it work on Win7 x64 are much better now than they were when I tried them last. Was just playing RE5 and NFS:Shift with it.

The 360 d-pad is so fucking horrid, I use the analogue stick in Street Fighter - and indeed any other fighter, 2D or 3D, whereas the PS d-pads have always been magnificent. Seconded only by the SNES one.

I was way too dumb to be into RPGs back then. My favorite game was probably MKII.

Oh shit yeah. Next to MK-Trilogy, I reckon MKII was the best of the entire series. Can't WAIT for the new MK, which has MKII written all over it.

i never got over being abandoned by mk when it went console-only... especially after all they left us with was mk4...
one of the favourite gaming memories ever was mk2.. parents bought it for me for my birthday... opened the box... saw the cd... took about 3 seconds for me to 'get it'... i raced to the computer fast as anything...
that was the day i got my first cd drive
edit: i actually found the boxes in my closet just now... memories eh not just the games but boxes... dont we all remember boxes... i miss boxes
just now watched a vid for the new mk... looks great... so depressing, its not gonna be on pc is it... as usual... fucking mortal kombat
