|
 |
So has anyone ever done this before? How reliable is it? A dude, with epic tons of feedback btw, is selling bundle packs of PSN titles on eBay. Generally 7-10 games for around £9-£14, and he's got a shitload of positive feedback from people that have bought them. Of course this seems too good to be true, but what's the harm? He's also got a "build your own" auction, where you choose a bunch of games - from a huge list of PSN/Minis/PS1 - for £19.99. Again, lots of positive feedback about it.
So.. any one with experience of this? Worth the risk or definite scam? If I did get this and it worked, what's the chance that it's a scam and Sony will just rescind all the downloads?
Example of packs;

Spoke to the guy over email and I was looking at getting the "choose your own" pack for £19.99, the games I chose were acceptable - and at a bargain price too - but since I'm not at my PS3, I'm not going to buy it just yet. The guy said he can guarantee the download code for 24hrs, and once installed they're set forever until I remove them. Shady? Probably. Worth it for cheap games? Definitely! I'm gonna buy my pack once I get back to the UK next month and can download them instantly.
Spoiler: |
PS3 Record of Agarest War
PS1 Castlevania SoTN
PS1 Final Fantasy VII
PS1 Final Fantasy VIII
PS1 Wild ARMs
PS1 Wild ARMs 2
PS3 Fat Princess
PS3 Tekken 5 + add on
PS3 Ratchet and Clank Future Quest for Booty
|
For £20? Considering Agarest War is usually £40? Hah, hell yeah!

it will probably be done by gamesharing (google psn gameshare) which means u will have his login details, and download from his account onto yours. dont think its possible any other way

He reckons they'll be on my account, so as long as I don't have to change account details (or give mine to him) - then that suits me just fine!

Not sure how he's making money if he does game sharing -- you can only do that with two machines... If sabin is right, and that first game is £20, then how did it fund the other games and where is his profit margin?

According to PSN, Agarest War is still £40.. so getting that, as well as lots of others, for £20? Definitely doesn't seem legit - UNLESS these are games that don't have install limits, in which case he's basically just charging for installs. I know a few games (after a cursory glance at Google) have install limts, maybe the ones I chose don't?

u can do it with 5 machines, and maybe he edoesnt wanna make a profit, (with 5 machines he will) just recoup some losses. but this is the only way it is possible, unless this ebayer has cracked the ps3 himself... lol

I'd also say he uses game sharing. Works for almost all titles in PSN, so he can divide the cost of the games by 5 and is probably under 20 pound, thus he makes profit.

I'll just hijack this thread
So PSN games are machine bound not account bound, right?
So if I buy a PSOne classic game with my US account on the US PSN I can play it with my "main" account (on the same console that is)?

yeah, from what I've found out via judicious Googling.. PSN/PS1-Classics/etc titles are machine locked and not account.

I haven't done that yet, but if you use the internal backup functionality of the PS3 I am sure it will also save your downloaded games. But you could always download them again anyway.
But you can't run those games from an external drive, only from the internal hdd.
About the game sharing:
It is fully legal to share games, and even sell them I would say. But I really have to say I don't like it when people sell those games. It is ok if you trade them with friends or so, but not for money.
If you want to share it has to go like this:
You need to keep the account that bought the game on your console! There is NO need to log on to the PSN, you just need to have that account on your PS3. You can then switch to another account on your console and still play the game. So basically the only time you need to use the account that bought the game is to start downloading the game. After that you could delete your password from the console (i.e. when you were at your friends console) so that he can't always log into your account.
Sony does allow sharing on purpose, which I think is a great thing. It is not a bug or anything, they wanted it this way. But when they see that people make loads of money from this feature, they might disable it in the future, which I would find totally reasonable.

Ahhhh, ok thanks, it makes sense now. I also do agree with your philosophy about not selling shares, I don't want Sony to clamp down on this any more than you do - but since I have no PSN titles yet, the only way I'm gonna get these is by buying them. For now.

I don't think there is. You always need to download it with the account that bought the game, so no sharing without it...
