Hell just look at games like Batman AA, Mirror's Edge, Bioshock 1 and - if you can stand plastic chunky brown models - Gears of Bore 2. Those really show off what UE3 is capable of. ME2 also looks absolutely amazing. Then you've got the artistically gorgeous Borderlands, another UE3 title.

Reached the sewers, game getting better IMHO. Love the upgraded shotgun, most monsters and especially solders fly away in a bloody mess. Shotgun + stasis field is my favorite combo so far

The sad thing is it's almost never implemented correctly Because the engine is so easy (relative term, obviously ) to code for, devs can pump out the same cookie-cutter bullshit time after time, but it takes a really talented studio - willing to put the time in - to produce an amazing looking game in UE3/3.5.
Hell, just talk to Leo about it. From what I can gather, he's a huge proponent of UE3. |
I am also a huge proponent. We are working in it as we speak. Type. Later ... whatever.
Of course, we haven't gotten in to asset production, we are just implementing the very first gameplay mechanics right now on a simplistic test map.
It is easy to work for, but don't be fooled, you need to really know your coding, otherwise you're just wasting time.

Stuck! This is pissing me off big time - puzzle inconsistency.
Spoiler: |
I'm in the gas tunnels - there's a part where you have to push a switch, and make it through the door before it closes. It's obviously not possible to do it normally, there is nothing to wedge under the door, and neither the door nor switch slow down AT ALL if you put them within the time bubble.
This is fucking stupid - why go through all the trouble of giving me a stop time power if it doesn't stop the fucking door?

Shoot the deadlock on the upper part of the door...so basically at the roof. That will stop the door long enough for you to go through.

Dammit i have no sound at all. It's not even low volume stuff it's NO sound. What a great port.
EDIT: WTF Quad speaker setting in win7 was the problem. Stereo and 5.1 are fine but quad produces no sound. Jezus how lame.

Let's be fair to this game, it's not pretty, but it's just as ugly as the Bioshock games (not that I hate them), and this game seems fairly entertaining, but I wonder what people would think if this had been Overhyped for the last couple of months...
Ps. After testing the Wide and Non Widescreen resolutions, I think it's clear that this game has proper widescreen support since the viewable area expands Horisontally without cutting off Vertically, so it isn't fucked like bioshock 2 but the FOV might be just as narrow as the Bioshock games.

Ya,it won't open the door if you shoot deadlock before applying the switch.
Just turn the switch and shoot the deadlock at the door in the roof line...guess you just didn't hit it properly.

Spoiler: | The small nasty exploding bugs ? As soon as I see a huge swarm incoming I cast stasis field under my legs. With other monsters as soon as they penetrate the field, they slow down to nearly complete stop, but for some reason exploding bugs can't penetrate the field at all. So, I just try to kill as many of them as I can while the stasis field lasts. With tight groups one shotgun blast usually kills at least five of them. |

Add -resx 1360 (and -resy 768 ?) to command line. I was disappointed they didn't support that resolution when I launched the game.
I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.
