What is NeroLINUX?

NeroLINUX is a comprehensive, yet flexible application provided you have some prior knowledge of CD/DVD technologies. Here's some additional information assist you:

* NeroLINUX uses NeroAPI for low-level operations (burn process)

* Autodetection and support for all types of internal CD and DVD recorders supported by NeroAPI 6.6
* Autodetection and support for all types of external CD and DVD recorders connected to the USB port and supported by
NeroAPI 6.6
* Kernel optimizations
* Ultra Buffer support

* Supports hot plug for external USB devices, without any application restart
* Stores and reloads compilations in XML format
* Fully compatible with FreeDB, to automatically get disc information over the Internet
* Supports the new 2.6 IDE driver interface (non SCSI emulation)
* Audio encoding and decoding done on the fly, using external utilities (mpg123, ogg123)
* Supports 2.4 and 2.6 kernel flavors
* Provided as RPM or Debian package for easy installation

Yes! Finally one of my favoourite apps is out for linux. K3B is great but this is the top one. I know that Maya exists for linux and that Adobe are developing linux software. Let's hope that Autodesk and other follows or else...

And so? What's the point? Some people prefer linux infront of Windows because of several reasons. Personally I like K3B but Nero is much better.

My point is that this is not really big news if you see this in perspective to windows. I'm using linux/bsd/solaris too, but almost only for server applications, linux is no opponent for windows as an "every day" os wich you use for all your tasks, especially at work (word processing, dtp multimedia etc.) and it never will be imo. I have a solaris and bsd machine at my desk at work, but only because i have to work on some servers too.

For me it works perfect. GIMP is not PS but it does the job fine. My current apps covers most my needs and if they aint available I just run Wine or Vmware. For office use Linux works just fine with Openoffice and any of the calendar apps. Maya is also available for Linux. I can understand if you are speaking of a heavy music editor, cad designer and a crazy gamer but for the "standard" user it fit's just fine. The average Joe shouldn't have any problems with using Gnome, XFCE or KDE and the popular apps.

It looks liek Gnome Toaster to me, certainly not a professional looking program when you compare it to the windows versions, messy dialogue boxes etc.
