Reign: Conflict of Nations is a large-scale real-time historical strategy game covering three centuries of medieval Europe. The player becomes a monarch testing their skills by controlling one of 26 unique fractions as they develop smart economics, work political maneuvers, maintain thoughtful diplomacy, take care of resources and wage war. As the ruler players have absolute command and the ability to thrive or fail and die.
Reign: Conflict of Nations allows players to have a well thought-out and historically accurate system of building and assigning labor forces in cities, a large selection of scenario-based and random missions, an expansive and realistic technology tree, more than 150 types of military units and elaborated graphics and animations which bring the war to life.
It is the year 1350. A terrible plague was born from the bloated belly of Asia… The Black Death emerged in the Genovese cities of Crimea, crawling on to Istanbul, and finally reaching Italy aboard merchant ships. After wreaking devastation upon Germany, France and England, it turned East, flooding into the Baltic lands, and soon reaching the borders of Russia…
On the vast lands lying between Krakow and the golden domes of Moscow, the plague gathered its last rotting harvest and vanished into dense forests of Russia. There, on the outskirts of Europe, lie the lands of Russia and Poland, destined to bring down the tyranny of the Golden Horde and the chivalric orders, to fight for freedom and independence, and survive the deadly struggle for dominance which spreads from sea to sea.
The dice of fate have been cast. The new empire shall carve its path to greatness, and reign over the conflict of nations.
Key features:
Strategy game covering 300 years in the history of Europe
Based on a detailed 3D map with authentic landscape and historically accurate military units
Large-scale military campaign to turn a small principality into a large and powerful empire
26 factions to control: Russian, Polish and Lithuanian princedoms, lands of the Knight Orders and Eastern European monarchies.
Political, economic and role-playing systems showing the intricacies of diplomacy and wars in medieval Europe.
Great people and personalities of the past, hundreds of game characters, each one with their own unique specialties including rulers, commanders, priests, alchemists and spies.
Released today, looks really interesting. There has been a lack of medieval grand strategy games like this since europe universalis 3.
Nothing still, do I really have to buy this game? I hate buying a game without testing it. although it looks really great + 1C I'm pretty sure I will like it.
i found the trailer to be intresting, but i would love to see something from the battles.
There is no tactical battles in this one, it's like the Europa Universalis series.
Still, game got a 78% from reviewer and 74% from users at AG.ru the most picky Russian review site ever --> LINK
Consensus is that the game is perfect introduction to history based games like Europa Universalis and alike.
If there is an interest, I could make english summary from russian review, like I did with some russian titles before. Let me know

- At it base game have strategic mode similar to previous Lesta Studio title - Aggression: Reign over Europe
- Game area spans from Caspian sea to Baltic region
- Game pays attention to the smallest details such as battles for small villages, migration of plague victims
- Player commands various characters
--- chieftains lead the troops,
--- rulers help with political matters(sending emissaries, invoking marshall law, etc)
--- vicegerents help with domestic matters
--- and so on (review doesn't mention other characters)
- Such characters look very organic, as princes back then tend to travel their lands
- Economic model
--- Provinces, contain cities.
--- Cities mine gold, do research needed for hiring military units, building more advanced buildings, unlocking new technologies and characters traits.
--- Villages supply cities with food
--- Food is consumed by population and army, unfed armies suffer from penalties during combat
--- Players need to protect villages from bandits raids, enemy spies.
--- Citizens in cities could fall victims of the plague, heresy or simply revolt under influence of enemy propaganda
- General gameplay
--- Game played in real time, player can control the flow of time (review doesn't mention whatever the game could be paused)
--- Overall it's very similar to Europa Universalis play style, during the game player keep adjusting various sliders and pushes buttons. (Review mentions convenient GUI)
--- Game features random events similar to Europa Universalis 3: In Nomine, but they have very detailed descriptions like something from the chronicles. (Reviewer mentioned that such attention to details better convey spirit of the era than games from Paradox Interactive )
--- If monarch without heir dies, empire falls into Time of Troubles(Smutnoye Vremya) period and suffers from severe penalties.
- Bad things
--- Game becomes very unbalanced towards the end, and player can steamroll anything.
--- Diplomacy system suffers from greedy AI, player can easily bribe them all.
--- It's quite easy to recover from Time of Troubles(Smutnoye Vremya) period.
