nice. good thing I still have the game on my computer :) Clone version that is.

Squirrely: Now come on y'all. We can't waste time arguing. There could still be survivors out there. We need to hunt them down, and kill them.
Beary: How about we kill them, and then rape their bodies so we can use their blood as lubricant.

Old game, but I picked up for free during that whole Greenmangaming promo code, and finally started playing it. Even though it's the previous generation of the engine, it still looks and plays great. It is pretty close to the current engine, but honestly feels like a better game. I played Men of War a few months ago, and just finished Red Tide, and while I enjoyed Red Tide a lot, this almost seems like a better game. There is a greater sense of urgency in this game where in Red Tide you could really plan and plod your way through a mission. I'm sorry I didn't catch this the first time around.

I would say Soldiers is my favorite in the series, Faces of War would be second and Men Of War will be the last. Although i like them all, soldiers made me enjoy playing arcade-like when the others are squad-oriented - different tactics and gameplay.
I finished Soldiers and FOW many times, recently finished MOW and now im playing Red Tide. The voices in the game make me laugh every fucking time Very Happy

This 7th german mission is a pain.. the stealth is really slow in this game, and the fight you have to do after is bad. You take control of a squad and armored car but they're already engaged, half the time the squad is dead by the time they give you control.

I dont know if you take advantage of pausing the game (you can issue orders then) and changing the game's pace (speed) with backspace.
Really help's out sometimes.

I didn't know you could do that, but in that case iti wouldn't help. The computer controls the squad coming in and you don't get control until the armored car gets to the gate. Sometimes the squad is still alive at that time, but other times the squad is already slaughtered. Several times I've been left to capture the base with only an armored car, and one guy with unlimited replenishing troops. They wear you down pretty fast.

I found a bug in the next mission. You have to assault the allies up the middle. After you take out the artillery there are 2 pershings to the left. The first one you come to (didn't get time to check the second before the map moved for the next objective) is loaded with 75 MM shells. I was able to take it over but not fire. I had to truck a guy across the map to a disabled one to bring in some shells. Kind of cheap, because the AI doesn't use ammo to fire.

Actually I'm enjoying Faces of War better than Men of War. Already played it as I pointed out above. There seem to be some additional vehicles and options, a couple things missing, but mostly the same.

The way I see it: FoW has much, much better missions, while MoW is better in everything else.

I wish I could just play the FoW missions in MoW.

Sorry if this has been posted already somewhere in this thread but you can actually do this:

http://www.strategyinformer.com/pc/menofwar/map/33734.html

Above pack contains 20 original FoW missions ported by the devs to MoW, I've been through them in COOP and they work flawlessly (well, despite a few, small oddities like radio controlled mines that don't work, but nothing game breaking). They were definitely more entertaining than MoW's missions.

and the more I look at the mission port isn't complete and is broken. Stealth is entirely different in MoW. So stealth missions don't work. Some other missions are missing things and at least one mission doesn't seem to work due to a bug, and a couple are missing outright. It isn't a complete port. If you don't want to play it, you're free to not play it. I'm enjoying it.

One thing I find is that tanks blow up a lot less quick in this one, so it's easier to loot them and sometimes capture them.

radio controlled mines that don't work, but nothing game breaking

That's a major mission objective in one mission and is required to move it forward. How could that not be game breaking?

I never played Faces of War so I don't have much a foot to stand on, but me and a friend completed every mission in that pack although as stated, there were oddities but that's when you have to get creative.

Still, great fun.

The 7th german mission requires you walk around and plant 4 radio controlled mines and then blow them to start an attack. How did you do that if they don't work?

Err, honestly not sure but I don't remember having any problems like that Confused. The mines I referred to were found in a box on a prior mission and weren't vital to its progress. Also I forgot to mention, there are a bunch of mission fixes available in the official thread for the mod on the Digitalmindsoft forum (incase you aren't aware). Just search for the pack and browse through the pages..

Best of luck. If all else fails, you could always just skip the mission anyway or rip it open in the editor and fiddle your way around it.

IMO Faces Of War is oriented on small missions with not that many units, and Men Of War is oriented on big battles like Sevastopol etc. And i really liked Soldiers, which was even smaller scale (like the russian "Katyusha" campaign) than FOW.
Of course technical issues are annoying but i managed to finish Soldiers and FOW many times. MOW is not that good IMO, although i like it and are still a fan of the series.
Cant wait for moar!
