Mafia 2 'more Alan Wake than GTA'

Quote:
Most would draw obvious parallels between Mafia 2 and the GTA series, but the developers at 2K think their game is "completely different".

"For us the freedom is not the main thing, which we are offering to the player," senior gameplay producer at 2K Czech Janek Kolar told CVG recently.

"We are basically trying to limit their freedom to give them more experience, better experience."

Because of the focus on narrative and a cinematic experience, in terms of a spectrum of games, Kolar feels that Mafia 2 is on a "completely different side" to GTA, and sees competition elsewhere:

"For example Alan Wake is a very narrative title, where story takes a very important role or Uncharted could be an example," he said.

2K's international producer Alex Cox concurs: "In Alan Wake the atmosphere they create there is incredible you don't need to have an open world to make that feeling of being lost in the woods with guys coming at you from behind and around you."

"That experience is more important than the ability to go to five or six different forests around a map and do it at your own pace."

"Basically there are theoretical approaches. One that is important for games is the gameplay, the challenge, and the second one is the narrative," continues Kolar.

"A lot of people are quarrelling about which is more important. With Mafia 2 we are going more towards the storytelling way of doing the game but I think these concepts are not opposite they coming together and it's the future of games I would say."

Kolar and Cox also confirmed to CVG that Mafia 2 will only be 3D for PC gamers, but there's hope for an 3D update for consoles in the future.

The title is misleading, since AW doesn't have a sandbox structure, but at least it provides an idea of what we could expect from the game; and it's fine for me. Smile

So in other words Mafia II is exactly like Mafia, which was awesome. As in short, linear, and sweet.

Well about if Im dumb or a troll I dont realy care what you think or say. First of all I never sayed that I dont know what is meant with the so caled ISO Demo. If you look at my post I wrote that I preordered the game what means I have no plans trying out the ISO demo. So in all respect the sentence (your dumb or you troll) is a much better description of you than me.

PS

I think you mean name their upload not name they upload.

Just noticed and was about to post it, seems OK aside from the somewhat extreme PhysX and APEX (particles and such.) demands, haha.

That is pretty damn extreme haha Very Happy

Basically the absolute minimum is a Q6600 or equivalent, but for anything above the minimum it jumps to having a dedicated 9800GTX or better as dedicated PhysX card. That's a pretty big leap Neutral

Yes, because PhysX and APEX are correlated directly to the resolution. Laughing
