depends what the game is, what system it's for and if i like it or not
i buy games, not often but i do still buy them, i pirate alot but i usually don't burn.. mount install get bored and delete

The ones I actually play are all paid for. If a game sucks then obviously im not gunna play it which even more obviously I'm not going to pay for it.

I buy all my PS3 and Xbox games, I download all the Wii games.
Dont really do Pc gaming as I dont run windows, but when I did I downloaded em all  :Y

I almost always download "demos" to check before buying.
Indie titles under <= $30 - almost always an insta-buy
AAA titles - almost always wait for STEAM 75% sale, or price drop to under $20
With applications it's a little bit different for me, I still download "demos" but buy only if I start making money with them and their price is under $500. For personal use I buy only during sales such as awesome MacHeist. As Mac is my workhorse, I only buy Mac apps. On PC side, so far, I kept buying only two apps - Agnitum Outpost Firewall Pro and Kaspersky Anti-Virus, but as Win 7 firewall is able to block apps from calling home I see no need for Outpost anymore, so that leaves Kaspersky yearly renewal only for now

Only pc games I ever bought was UT, starcraft and diablo 2. I played a shitload of pc games back in the day but it got annoying at the time buying 300 dollar video cards to run something at the highest detail only to end up waiting 6 months before it was finally patched to run properly. Just annoyed me and hell, when you were staying on top of the hardware curve who the fuck could afford the games anyway?
Obviously pay for ps3 games but most of the 360 fodder is pirated. Bought gta4, l4d, the first guitar hero and test drive unlimited. Stole crackdown from gamefly and I've bought crackdown 2 as well but I'm just going to ebay it and not open it. I've boght a few other 360 titles but ebayed them when I was done. I don't mind paying for a good game but there's so much SHIT pumped out nowadays that just isn't deserving. So why not play it if you're clever enough to do it without it costing you? No harm in it when they were never going to get that money anyway.

I do both. Mostly download but occasionally I'll buy a game if it's really good. I usually sell it again when I'm done with it but there have been exceptions to that.
